Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, develop, and scale backend systems for a cloud-native engineering platform used for electrical grid modeling and simulation. The platform integrates industry-leading engineering tools such as MATLAB, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSSE, and OpenDSS through a unified web interface.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python backend development, cloud-native microservices, REST APIs, AWS, MongoDB, and distributed systems. Exposure to scientific computing, simulation platforms, or electrical engineering applications will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

- Build secure, high-performance RESTful and GraphQL APIs for application functionality, user management, authentication, authorization, and data management.

- Design and implement microservices-based architectures to integrate engineering and simulation tools.

- Develop backend services for simulation orchestration, workflow automation, job scheduling, and execution management.

- Build APIs for model upload/download, scenario management, metadata management, and engineering workflows.

- Design scalable data storage solutions using MongoDB and cloud storage services such as Amazon S3.

- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance in cloud environments.

- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Power System Engineers, QA teams, and DevOps engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.

- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, code reviews, and technical design discussions.

- Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and automated quality checks.

- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system performance, observability, and maintainability.

- Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards, and engineering best practices.

Required Technical Skills :

- 7 -11 years of experience in backend software development using Python.

- Strong expertise in one or more Python frameworks :

1. FastAPI

2. Flask

3. Django

- Experience designing scalable REST APIs and GraphQL APIs.

- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and asynchronous programming.

- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and NoSQL database design.

- Strong experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including :

1. Amazon S3

2. EC2

3. Lambda (preferred)

4. ECS/EKS (preferred)

5. IAM

6. CloudWatch

- Experience designing cloud-native, highly available backend applications.

- Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and clean architecture principles.

- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
