Job Title : Senior Platform & Security Engineer

Job Description :

The Automation Operations team is looking for a Senior Platform & Security Engineer to serve as the technical authority for infrastructure, architecture, security, and access across our backend and frontend applications.

This is a hands-on role. You will write code in our services, make security decisions at the implementation level, own the maturity of our database and permission models, and set implementation targets that our R&D DevOps partners build against. Sitting alongside our engineering team as the senior technical voice on infrastructure and security, you will have real decision-making authority. We are early in our platform maturity, and you will be the person who takes us from a working system to a resilient one.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architecture & Maturity : Own the architecture of our backend and frontend applications, guiding both toward long-term maturity and resilience.

- Hands-on Development : Write production code in Python services with a sharp focus on security, reliability, and architectural soundness.

- Security & Compliance : Partner with InfoSec to implement robust security controls, design access permissions, and systematically reduce our attack surface.

- Database Engineering : Mature PostgreSQL practices, including data modeling, schema design, role management, performance tuning, and recovery.

- Access Control : Establish and enforce best practices for Identity and Access Management (IAM) across all production systems.

- DevOps Collaboration : Define infrastructure implementation targets for the R&D DevOps team and verify delivery against them.

- AWS Migration : Support the ongoing migration of services to AWS, setting target architecture and validating deployment results.

- Code Reviews & Mentorship : Mentor engineers on secure coding and architecture, and review security-relevant code changes across services.

- Reliability & On-Call : Identify root causes of recurring failures to implement lasting fixes. Participate in an infrastructure/security-only on-call rotation.

Desired Candidate Profile :

- Experience : 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles.

- Core Tech Stack : Strong proficiency in Python (writing production code) and deep experience with PostgreSQL.

- Cloud & Infrastructure : Hands-on expertise in AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS, IAM, API Gateway, Lambda) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

- Containers & Pipelines : Experience with Docker in managed orchestrators (ECS, EKS, K8s) and designing secure CI/CD pipelines.

- Security Practice : Proven track record in code-level security, access control design, and partner collaboration with InfoSec teams.

- Communication : Excellent problem-solving skills and clear communication with both technical and non-engineering stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications :

- AI Infrastructure & Agents : Hands-on experience deploying open-source models, operating cloud inference environments, or building production AI agent systems.

- AI Observability : Familiarity with AI evaluation/tracing tools such as LangSmith, Langfuse, Arize Phoenix, or OpenTelemetry.

- Compliance & Frontend : Familiarity with SOC 2, GDPR standards, or frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
