Workfall is a new-age premium talent tech platform, looking for a seasoned Senior MSBI DevOps Engineer to take dual ownership of our enterprise Microsoft BI platform functioning equally as an Analytics Engineer and a Data Platform DevOps Engineer. This is a high-impact, high-accountability role operating at the intersection of deep BI development and disciplined platform engineering within a mature, on-premises Microsoft SQL Server BI ecosystem.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing BI solutions across the full MSBI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, T-SQL), while concurrently owning the DevOps, CI/CD, release governance, and platform resilience standards that keep a complex, nearly two-decade-old BI environment stable and regression-safe.

Environment :

- Database : Microsoft SQL Server 2022+, with extensive SQL Agent job orchestration and SSIS catalog execution chains

- ETL : SSIS 2022, with CLR / .NET Framework components

- Semantic Layer : SSAS 2017 / 2019 (Multidimensional)

- DevOps : All BI lifecycle activities use an on-prem Azure DevOps Server for versioning, CI/CD, automated testing, and controlled promotion between DEV, UAT, and PROD. All components are version-controlled and deployed using an on-premises Azure DevOps Server, DEV-to-PROD flows are currently managed manually via merge and deploy.

- The BI solution has evolved over 18 years, reaching functional completeness approximately seven years ago, resulting in deep object interdependencies and high regression sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities :

Analytics Engineering

- Design, maintain, and optimize SQL-based data models, ETL/ELT workflows, and SSIS 2022 data pipelines, including packages with CLR / .NET Framework integration

- Develop, maintain, and enhance SSAS semantic models (Multidimensional/Tabular), including hierarchies, KPIs, MDX/DAX calculations, and cube partitions.

- Produce, refactor, and deploy SSRS 2014 / 2019 reports and datasets, ensuring strict alignment with business logic and performance standards

- Conduct thorough impact analysis across SQL views, SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, and SSRS reports prior to implementing any changes

- Participate in data modelling for Data Warehouse and Data Mart layers, ensuring performance, accuracy, and end-to-end lineage traceability

- Contribute to automated test suites and UAT validation cycles to uphold regression-safe development practices

- Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Platform Engineering to ensure stable deployments and environmental consistency

Data Platform Engineering - DevOps :

- Maintain and optimize SQL Agent job networks and SSIS catalog execution chains, ensuring operational reliability across all environments

- Govern and enforce DevOps standards for SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS deployments across the full delivery lifecycle

- Maintain and continuously evolve CI/CD pipelines covering build automation, deployment, automated testing, and rollback strategies for all MSBI components

- Oversee version control branching and merging strategies (Git / TFS); ensure alignment with release management and change control processes

- Contribute to data governance and quality frameworks, and participate in cross-functional risk assessments related to platform changes

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Analytics Engineering :

- Advanced SQL development : CTEs, window functions and query performance tuning

- Expertise in SSIS 2022, CLR / .NET Framework component integration / C#

- Strong knowledge of SSAS Multidimensional models : MDX, DAX, XMLA / TMSL scripting

- Skilled in SSRS dataset/report creation and optimization.

- Disciplined documentation practices : Wiki authoring, Architectural Decision Records (ADR), and lineage tracking

- Demonstrated ability to operate within a highly constrained, long-running enterprise BI environment with strict regression and change-control requirements

Data Platform Engineering - DevOps :

- Experience with SSDT/DACPAC, SSIS catalog/ISPAC deployments, and SSRS publishing.

- Proficiency with on-premises Azure DevOps Server : pipeline authoring, environment gates, release management, and build agent configuration

- Strong command of Git and / or TFS : branching strategy design, merge conflict resolution, and tag/release management

- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for MSBI artefacts, including automated testing integration and rollback mechanisms

- Governance-oriented mindset : change management adherence, regression prevention frameworks, deployment documentation, and audit trail maintenance

Experience :

- Staff/Principal level hands-on experience with the Microsoft SQL Server BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL) in enterprise-grade, production environments

- Demonstrable experience working across both BI/Analytics Engineering and DevOps/platform engineering functions

Nice to Have :

- Prior exposure to legacy or long-tenured BI environments highly interdependent and regression-sensitive, requiring structured and automated validation where strict change-control governance is strongly preferred.
