Together with his team, the Java Developer - BIRT Reporting Specialist will drive the strategic modernization and evolution of our Compass Cash Center-Software digital reporting systems. Compass Cash Center is the market leading cash center workflow product, which enables the digitalization of cash center processes. T

The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for leading the migration and modernization of enterprise reporting solutions from SAP BusinessObjects to BIRT framework, while maintaining responsibility for design, development, and testing of Java-based business intelligence systems for Compass Cash Center-Software Digital Systems. The role focuses on BIRT Report Designer expertise and Java development for financial reporting systems, with special emphasis on Spring Boot microservices, Hibernate ORM, and advanced reporting infrastructure including interactive dashboards, data visualization, and performance-optimized report generation. You will work in a cross-site scrum team with colleagues located in India and Germany.

Key Responsibilities :

- Migrate of existing SAP BusinessObjects reports to BIRT framework and develop new interactive reports and dashboards using BIRT Report Designer

- Design, implement, and unit test BIRT-based reporting components and Java enterprise applications for financial reporting systems

- Optimize reporting performance, data queries, and ETL processes between legacy SAP BO systems and modern BIRT runtime environment

- Provide effort estimates for BIRT migration projects and reporting component development

- Collaborate with Business Intelligence teams, System Testers, Support Specialists, and Business Analysts to ensure seamless reporting transitions

- Resolve technical problems during BIRT migration phases and reporting system integration

- Create proof of concepts for BIRT reporting solutions to validate migration strategies and design assumptions

- Maintain and enhance reporting infrastructure while serving as a Scrum team member to achieve team goals, contribute to process improvements, and enable cross-site collaboration with Munich-and-Gurugram-based teams

- Integrate BIRT reporting components with enterprise Java applications developed by other team members

- Help drive a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement in business intelligence and reporting excellence.

Qualification :

B. Tech or Bachelors in computer science, Information Systems, or any other relevant field with focus on Business Intelligence (Required)

M. Tech or Masters in any other relevant field with Business Intelligence or Data Analytics specialization (Preferred)

Years of Experience :

Total Exp : 8 + years

- Experience In 5+ years of experience with mandatory BIRT framework expertise Extensive experience with BIRT Report Designer, Runtime Environment, and Java-based reporting solutions Proven experience in SAP BusinessObjects migration projects (Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, Universe Design)

- Experience with Java technologies and frameworks (Spring framework, Hibernate, EJB, REST Services, Web Services) applied to reporting and BI systems

Required Skills :

- Strong skills in object-oriented analysis, design, and development with focus on reporting architectures

- Expert-level proficiency with BIRT Report Designer, BIRT Runtime, and BIRT scripting (JavaScript, Java Event Handlers) - mandatory requirement

- Strong experience with SAP BusinessObjects suite and Universe Design Tool Advanced skills in report migration methodologies and ETL processes for business intelligence systems

- Advanced proficiency with Hibernate ORM for database operations, persistence, and reporting data layer optimization

- Proficient in RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server) including performance tuning for complex reporting queries and data warehouse integration

- Experience with GIT, GitHub Copilot, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards for BI project management

- Experience with integrated development environments (IntelliJ or Eclipse) and BIRT Report Designer IDE

- Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security) for reporting service architecture

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence for BI project delivery Understanding of Business Intelligence concepts, data warehousing principles, and dashboard design best practices

- Exposure to frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, React) for interactive reporting interfaces

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for distributed reporting applications and performance optimization Excellent communication skills in English with ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions
