Summary of This Role :
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is a critical position responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and scalability of Oracle database platforms and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.
This role provides continuous support to Production Support, Development teams, Vendor Partners, and Business Users, while also owning administrative responsibility for OCI, participating in all critical migrations, and leading the rollout of new Oracle environments.
As a key technical resource, the Senior DBA should manage and supports both Oracle SaaS and PaaS platforms, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with business objectives.
What Part Will You Play :
- Performs testing of database software, utilities and patches within a test environment prior to production roll out, identifies and resolves issues while in the test environment, and works in close liaison with application developers to ensure best practices are applied to mitigate potential impacts to the various user groups and/or other database configurations.
- Completes authentication and authorization requests by creating/purging/maintaining user accounts, adding/deleting/modifying table and data permissions, performs and/or sets up a scheduled database audit procedure to track the who/when changes are made or new items are created, and takes appropriate corrective actions based on audit results.
- Schedules database back-up tasks and ensure proper completion of scheduled tasks, and executes database recovery task during a disaster recovery and/or disaster recovery exercises.
- Performs routine maintenance such as data compression, defragmentation, dropping temp tables, clearing transaction logs, archiving inactive databases, load balancing and evaluating server hardware to provide recommendations for performance improvements.
- Works closely with the Applications Team while performing troubleshooting to determine the source of application failures, assists in the development of solutions to minimize the potential of future application failures, and supports the implementation of solutions.
- Produces and maintains operational database documentation, such as SQL Disaster Recovery, SQL Recovery Presentation, Naming Standards, Performance and Tuning, to ensure database configurations are well documented in preparation for disaster recovery.
- Assists in the training and familiarization of less experienced DBAs regarding company policies and procedures, techniques and current server/database configurations.
- Managing Various Oracle services under Oracle Cloud Infrastructure such as Oracle Fusion, OIC, ATP, VBCS & OAC.
- Managing underlying infrastructure of Oracle Fusion and OIC.
- Knowledge in Disaster Recovery for OIC, SFTP, ATP, VBCS & OAC Production.
- Performing Oracle Fusion cloning activities.
- Managing the patching & maintenance cycles of Oracle Fusion and OIC.
- Managing ADMIN role in GITHUB.
- Quarterly CPU patching on instances.
- Performing migrations on requirement basis such as BIP, OIC, PL/SQL, Database Packages etc.
- Create and Follow up Service Requests with Oracle Support.
- Good to have knowledge in Experience in CI/CD pipeline (DevOps).
- Support to multiple teams while also owning on administrative responsibility for OCI, participating in all critical migrations, and leading the rollout of new Oracle environments.
- Administer OCI IAM, policies, compartments, security lists, NSGs, and Vault.
- Design, deploy, and manage OCI environments across multiple regions and availability domains.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and performance issues.
