About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior MySQL DBA with strong expertise in MySQL, AWS RDS, and Amazon Aurora MySQL. The candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance optimization, production support, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, high availability, upgrades, and database security across AWS and on-premises environments.

Must-Have Skills:

- 5+ years of experience in MySQL Database Administration

- Strong hands-on experience with MySQL 5.7/8.0

- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS for MySQL and Amazon Aurora MySQL

- Strong production support, incident management, and troubleshooting experience

- Good understanding of Aurora architecture, Multi-AZ, Read Replicas, Failover, and High Availability

- Expertise in MySQL performance tuning and query optimization

- Strong knowledge of indexing and MySQL replication

- Experience with backup, recovery, snapshots, and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)

- Experience with AWS CloudWatch and Performance Insights

- Experience with MySQL upgrades, patching, and migration

- Strong understanding of database security, user management, and access controls

- Good knowledge of Linux administration and Shell scripting

Good-to-Have Skills:

- MySQL Group Replication

- InnoDB Cluster

- ProxySQL

- MySQL Router

- Experience with ServiceNow

- Experience working in enterprise production support environments

- Experience supporting both AWS and on-premises databases

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 24x7 rotational production support for MySQL databases across AWS and on-premises environments

- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity

- Troubleshoot database incidents, replication issues, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks

- Perform database changes, upgrades, patching, migration, backup, and recovery activities

- Manage AWS RDS and Aurora MySQL environments

- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing activities

- Monitor and troubleshoot replication and failover issues

- Manage database users, permissions, access controls, and security configurations

- Participate in on-call support and major incident management

- Maintain database reliability, availability, and operational stability

- Create and maintain database documentation and operational procedures

- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to resolve production issues
