Senior COBOL Developer - DB2/Mainframe

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Senior COBOL Developer with strong expertise in mainframe technologies and a deep understanding of banking systems. This role will directly support a major banking client, primarily focused on the FDIC Sweep Program using the Agiletics application and other related banking interfaces. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in COBOL development, financial systems, and the ability to operate both independently and within a collaborative consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Client-Facing Support:

- Act as a trusted consultant, working directly with client personnel in the banking industry.

- Provide support for the FDIC Sweep Program implemented through the Agiletics platform.

- Assist with the integration and maintenance of peripheral banking systems and interfaces.

- Mainframe Software Development:

- Analyze user requirements and design, develop, test, and implement COBOL programs and batch processes.

- Ensure high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry best practices.

- Problem Resolution and Maintenance:

- Offer technical assistance to resolve software issues and system failures.

- Participate in root cause analysis and resolution of production problems.

- Tool & Technology Utilization:

- Leverage a wide range of mainframe tools for development, debugging, testing, and deployment.

- Maintain proficiency with core technologies and stay current on new tools relevant to client environments.

- Industry and Domain Expertise:

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial services and banking operations, particularly those related to regulatory compliance.

- Stay informed about industry trends and apply relevant insights to project work.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Proven hands-on experience with:

- COBOL, CICS, VSAM

- Strong analytical and debugging skills.

- Excellent communication skillsboth written and verbal.

- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a client-facing role.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) :

- Easytrieve, Zeke, Changeman, INSYNC, Dumpmaster, Tracemaster, DB2, MQ, Assembler, SQL

- SoapUI or other service testing tools

- Familiarity with financial compliance systems and regulatory programs, particularly the FDIC Sweep Program.

- Previous consulting or client engagement experience in banking IT environments.

Bonus :

- Prior involvement in FDIC Sweep implementation or support.
