Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced AWS Senior Cloud Automation Engineer to automate the build, deployment, and recovery of an Isolated Recovery Environment (IRE). The role involves adapting existing Infrastructure-as-Code templates, operationalising CI/CD pipelines, managing EKS deployment configurations, and automating application recovery processes to meet stringent recovery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Adapt and parameterise existing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates to meet IRE naming, tagging, and addressing standards without impacting production configurations.

- Operationalise existing CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.

- Set up GitLab with private runners within the isolated environment and enable API Hub and observability capabilities.

- Own CI/CD deployment activities, including pipeline execution, deployment automation, and recovery workflow orchestration.

- Manage Helm charts and Kubernetes configurations for the in-scope Amazon EKS cluster.

- Automate repeatable infrastructure and application recovery processes to achieve the 48-hour Tier-0 recovery window.

- Develop deployment automation for designated applications within the cloud recovery environment using Python, Bash, and relevant DevOps tools.

- Instrument pipeline and deployment telemetry to measure and validate recovery timings during testing.

- Document automation workflows, recovery procedures, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational handover.

- Collaborate with platform, cloud, and application teams to ensure reliable deployments within the isolated environment.

Mandatory Skills:

- 8+ years of experience in cloud automation, DevOps, and infrastructure engineering.

- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.

- Experience with GitLab CI/CD, pipeline configuration, and private runners.

- Strong knowledge of GitOps practices, immutable infrastructure, and automated deployment workflows.

- Hands-on experience with Amazon EKS, Kubernetes configurations, and Helm charts.

- Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting for automation.

- Experience automating infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, and recovery workflows.

- Ability to work with existing CI/CD pipelines and IaC repositories while maintaining production isolation.

- Experience with deployment monitoring, pipeline telemetry, and operational documentation.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience automating disaster recovery or isolated recovery environments.

- Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and secure deployment practices.

- Experience with API integration and observability enablement.

- Understanding of recovery time objectives and time-bound recovery execution.

- Experience creating operational runbooks and SOPs for production handover.
