Senior Backend Engineer - Python/FastAPI

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our early team and help architect, implement, and scale the backend systems that power CadencePro. This is a high-impact role where you'll work directly with the founding team, make critical architectural decisions, and shape the technical foundation of our product. You won't just write code, you'll own systems end-to-end and drive best practices across engineering.

Responsibilities :

- Architect and build scalable backend systems using Python, LangChain, and LangGraph.

- Design data models and workflows leveraging AWS (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB).

- Build scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant integrations with external APIs (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).

- Own engineering standards: mypy type-checking, CI/CD pipelines, unit/integration testing.

- Collaborate with frontend, AI, and data teams to deliver new features and integrations.

- Push the boundaries of how AI workflows can model real-world project management dynamics.

- Uphold code quality and act as a bar raiser for the engineering culture.

Requirements :

- 5-8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university.

- Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms with demonstrable application in real-world systems.

- Proven experience with Python, FastAPI, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS preferred).

- Practical experience building or integrating Generative AI applications (LLM APIs, vector databases, prompt engineering, or fine-tuning).

- Prior experience working in startup environments, able to thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and deliver under constraints.

- Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and third-party integrations.

- Proficiency in Git workflows, code reviews, and collaboration tools (Slack, Notion, Jira).

- Willingness to overlap at least 3-4 hours with US business hours.

Nice to Have :

- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures and microservices.

- Understanding of project management workflows (Jira, ADO, Asana, etc.).

- Advanced work with AI/ML pipelines beyond API usage (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation, LangChain, agent frameworks).
