Senior Backend Engineer - Python

About the Role :

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to architect and scale the Core Systems of Perceive Now the trust kernel powering our 25-layer validation and reasoning pipeline. You will design deterministic, auditable microservices that guarantee data integrity, lineage, and reliability across distributed workflows.

Responsibilities :

- Design and implement microservices and APIs using Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic) to manage evidence ingestion, validation, and lifecycle events.

- Build event-driven, deterministic replay systems using Temporal or Argo Workflows, ensuring fault tolerance and audit reproducibility.

- Implement data lineage and rollback mechanisms for full-stack traceability and compliance with SOC 2 / GDPR standards.

- Optimize system performance and achieve sub-second evidence retrieval across multi-tenant architectures.

- Collaborate with Data Fabric, Workflow, and Governance teams to embed validation checkpoints and transactional integrity.

- Instrument OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, metrics, and observability across Perceive Now services.

- Define and enforce coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and schema versioning to ensure consistent delivery.

Required Qualifications :

- 6+ years of backend engineering experience with 3+ years in distributed or microservice architectures.

- Advanced proficiency in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, async I/O, and related backend frameworks.

- Deep understanding of event-driven systems, data validation pipelines, and transactional integrity.

- Experience working with Temporal/Argo, OpenTelemetry, or similar workflow orchestration tools.

- Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform / Helm for cloud deployments (Azure preferred).

- Excellent debugging, profiling, and optimization skills for high-throughput systems.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience implementing deterministic replay engines and lineage tracking.

- Knowledge of OPA / Rego for policy enforcement and Prometheus / Grafana for monitoring.

- Exposure to data-governance frameworks or evidence-based AI systems is a plus.

- Deterministic replay accuracy ? 99.5 %

- 100 % CI test coverage for all core services
