Scala Developer - Distributed Systems

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Scala Developer with strong expertise in Spark, Java, SQL, and Unix to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing scalable, high-performance applications, preferably within the financial domain.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and optimize data processing applications using Spark with Scala and Java.

- Build, enhance, and maintain distributed systems with high scalability and low latency.

- Work with Hadoop Ecosystem components such as HDFS, Hive, Impala, and HBase.

- Develop and manage micro-batching and real-time Spark applications.

- Write efficient SQL queries and integrate data pipelines across different data sources.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver robust technical solutions.

- Ensure code quality, performance optimization, and adherence to best practices.

- Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term fixes.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8+ years of professional development experience.

- Strong programming experience in Scala and Java.

- Proven expertise in Apache Spark (batch and streaming processing).

- Hands-on experience with SQL and Unix/Linux environments.

- Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem tools (HDFS, Hive, Impala, HBase, etc.).

- Experience in Java server-side development for low-latency systems.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

- Excellent understanding of data modelling and process flows.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.

- Proactive, enthusiastic, and quick learner with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience working in financial services or banking domain.

- Prior exposure to real-time data streaming or event-driven architectures.

- Understanding of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is an added advantage.
