Job Description :
Roles & Responsibilities :
Database Administration :
- Install, configure, and maintain- MySQL Community Edition- databases across production, staging, and development environments.
- Perform- upgrades, patches, and version migrations- for community edition setups.
- Manage- schemas, tables, indexes, partitions, and storage engines- (InnoDB, MyISAM, etc.).
- Implement and maintain- backup & recovery strategies- using open-source tools (mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup).
Performance & Optimization :
- Monitor and tune- query performance, indexes, buffer pools, and database configuration parameters.
- Conduct- slow query analysis, execution plan reviews, and schema optimization.
- Use open-source tools like- Percona Toolkit,- PMM, or custom scripts to improve performance.
High Availability & Replication :
Set up and maintain- replication topologies- such as :
- Asynchronous / Semi-synchronous replication
- Master-slave / multi-source replication
- Manage failover, disaster recovery, and- infrastructure redundancy.
- Implement backup testing and end-to-end DR drills.
Security & Compliance :
- Configure and manage user roles, privileges, audit logs, encryption (TLS/SSL).
- Ensure compliance with internal security policies for open-source DB environments.
- Conduct periodic security hardening- for MySQL Community Edition.
Automation & Scripting :
- Automate routine DBA tasks using- Bash, Shell, Python, or Ansible.
- Maintain automated- monitoring, alerts, and reporting dashboards- for database health and capacity.
Troubleshooting & Support :
- Provide L2/L3 support for database issues, outages, deadlocks, and replication failures.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.
- Work closely with development teams for schema design, SQL reviews, and migration planning.
Documentation & Best Practices :
- Maintain updated documentation for- architecture, configuration, SOPs, and DR plans.
- Introduce industry best practices for open-source MySQL operations.
Key Competencies :
- 9- 15 years of experience as a MySQL DBA within Community Edition and open- source ecosystems.
- Deep knowledge of MySQL internals-storage engines, query optimizer, indexing, and replication.
- Hands- on experience with Linux/Unix environments (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) for logs, scripting, monitoring, and configurations.
- Proficiency in performance tuning, optimizing schemas, and writing high- efficiency SQL queries.
- Skilled in backup/recovery strategies, monitoring tools, and HA/DR configurations.
- Scripting expertise in Shell, Bash, and Python for automation and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with production environments, patch deployments, and change- management processes.
- Good understanding of BFSI domain-broking, trading, settlements, compliance, and regulatory workflows.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Experience with Percona Server, MariaDB, or Galera Cluster.
- Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure- as- code.
- Exposure to microservices- based architectures and high- throughput systems.
- Experience deploying databases using Docker and Kubernetes.
