Key Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

- Manage SQL Server databases across Development, Testing, UAT, and Production environments.

- Ensure database availability, consistency, integrity, and security.

- Configure and maintain SQL Server instances, clusters, and Always On Availability Groups.

- Perform database migrations, refreshes, and deployments.

- Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.

- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and execution plans.

- Conduct database health checks and implement tuning recommendations.

- Analyze blocking, deadlocks, CPU usage, memory allocation, and disk I/O performance.

- Implement indexing strategies and partitioning techniques for large databases.

- Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies.

- Perform database restores and disaster recovery testing.

- Ensure RPO/RTO objectives are met.

- Configure automated backup schedules and recovery verification processes.

- Maintain DR environments and support failover/failback activities.

- Monitor database servers using SQL monitoring tools.

- Configure alerts, jobs, maintenance plans, and performance reports.

- Perform routine database maintenance activities including : Index rebuild/reorganization Statistics updates Integrity checks Log management Ensure proactive monitoring and issue resolution.

- Manage database security, user roles, permissions, and access controls.

- Implement encryption, auditing, and compliance standards.

- Ensure database systems adhere to organizational security policies.

- Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply security patches.

- Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, or SQL Agent jobs.

- Support application teams during releases and deployments.

- Troubleshoot database-related incidents and provide root cause analysis.

- Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and support teams for issue resolution.

- Create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs.

Required Skills :

- Strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration (SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2019/2022).

- Expertise in Database Administration and Performance Tuning.

- Strong understanding of Backup, Restore, Recovery Models, and Disaster Recovery.

- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Maintenance and Optimization.

- Experience in SQL Server Clustering and Always On Availability Groups.

- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views, and Functions.

- Experience in query optimization and execution plan analysis.

- Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and database normalization Experience with SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and Performance Monitor.

- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as: Redgate SolarWinds SCOM SQL Diagnostic Manager

- Experience in job scheduling and automation using SQL Server Agent.

Backup & Recovery :

- Expertise in backup strategies : Full Backup Differential Backup Transaction Log Backup Hands-on experience in point-in-time recovery and DR planning.

- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.

- Experience with automation of maintenance and monitoring tasks.

Cloud & Infrastructure (Preferred) :

- Exposure to Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, or AWS RDS SQL Server.

- Understanding of virtualization and cloud-based database deployments.

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

- Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

- Ability to work in rotational shifts/on-call support environments if required.

- Experience with ETL tools and SSIS. Exposure to

- High Availability and Disaster Recovery architecture.
