Job Title : Director of Software Engineering

Location : Noida, India

Work Mode : Onsite

Reporting To : VP of Engineering / CTO

Role Summary :

The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for leading, scaling, and maturing the software engineering organization. This role sets the technical direction, establishes engineering best practices, and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery of software products. The Director will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering execution with business objectives while building strong, high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Engineering Leadership & Team Development :

- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders to build a strong leadership pipeline.

- Scale engineering teams effectively while maintaining high standards of performance, quality, and accountability.

- Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development of engineering talent.

Technical Strategy & Architecture :

- Define and drive the overall technical vision, architecture standards, and engineering best practices across teams.

- Ensure consistency in system design, coding standards, and technology choices, with a strong focus on Java-based systems.

- Guide teams in building scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.

- Review and govern major technical decisions to ensure long-term sustainability and alignment with business needs.

Delivery & Operational Excellence :

- Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery across multiple teams and initiatives.

- Ensure predictable delivery of high-quality software through effective planning, estimation, and prioritization.

- Establish and monitor engineering metrics related to delivery, quality, reliability, and operational health.

- Drive continuous improvements in development processes, release management, and operational practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

- Partner closely with Product Management, QA, Design, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical execution plans.

- Enable effective collaboration between engineering and non-engineering teams to drive innovation and customer value.

- Communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs clearly to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

Technology & Process Advancement :

- Stay current with evolving technology trends, frameworks, and engineering practices relevant to the organization.

- Champion adoption of modern engineering practices, including Agile methodologies and DevOps principles, where applicable.

- Ensure engineering teams continuously improve tooling, automation, and development workflows to increase efficiency and quality.

Qualifications & Experience :

Required Experience :

- 10+ years of overall experience in software development

- 9+ years of hands-on experience working with Java-based technologies

- 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, managing managers and multiple teams

- Proven experience leading large engineering teams and complex, multi-project environments

Technical & Leadership Skills :

- Strong background in modern software engineering practices, system design, and architecture

- Experience working with cloud platforms and Agile/DevOps environments

- Demonstrated ability to manage delivery, balance technical depth with business priorities, and drive execution

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives

Preferred Experience :

- Experience working in SaaS products, digital platforms, or multi-site engineering organizations

- Exposure to scaling engineering teams and systems in growing or evolving environments

Additional Requirements :

- Ability and willingness to work in a fully onsite setting in Noida

- Strong leadership presence with a hands-on, outcome-driven approach
