We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer with 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise applications built using PowerBuilder. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in legacy application maintenance, application enhancement, troubleshooting, and modernization initiatives. Additionally, the candidate should possess a foundational understanding of AWS cloud services and be capable of supporting cloud migration and integration activities.

The selected candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, infrastructure teams, and cloud engineers to ensure the stability, performance, and modernization of critical business applications. The role requires flexibility to work in client-approved 2nd and 3rd shifts to support global operations and production environments.

Key Responsibilities :

- Work in client-approved shifts (2nd and 3rd shifts) to support development, maintenance, and production support activities.

- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.

- Analyze existing legacy applications and implement enhancements based on business requirements.

- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects, production issues, and performance bottlenecks.

- Participate in application modernization and digital transformation initiatives.

- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, QA teams, and end users to gather and understand business requirements.

- Develop technical solutions that align with business objectives and technology standards.

- Ensure application stability, reliability, and performance across development, testing, and production environments.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices.

- Maintain detailed technical documentation for applications, processes, and enhancements.

- Provide ongoing production support and timely resolution of incidents.

- Work closely with cloud and infrastructure teams during migration and integration projects.

PowerBuilder Development Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain applications using PowerBuilder development tools and frameworks.

- Design and implement new modules, enhancements, and custom functionality.

- Modify existing application components to meet evolving business requirements.

- Develop and maintain PowerBuilder objects, windows, menus, data windows, user objects, and business logic components.

- Ensure application code adheres to coding standards and best practices.

- Optimize application performance and maintainability.

- Perform impact analysis before implementing changes to existing systems.

- Support application upgrades and version migrations when required.

Legacy Application Maintenance & Modernization :

- Analyze legacy PowerBuilder applications and identify modernization opportunities.

- Refactor and optimize existing code to improve maintainability and performance.

- Participate in application modernization initiatives involving migration to modern platforms and architectures.

- Assist in integrating legacy applications with modern technologies and cloud-based services.

- Support technical assessments and application transformation projects.

- Contribute to long-term modernization roadmaps and strategies.

AWS Cloud Migration & Integration Responsibilities :

- Assist in migrating on-premises applications and workloads to AWS cloud environments.

- Collaborate with cloud architects and engineers during migration planning and execution.

- Support integration of PowerBuilder applications with AWS services and cloud-native solutions.

- Gain an understanding of AWS infrastructure, networking, storage, and application deployment concepts.

- Participate in cloud readiness assessments and application migration activities.

- Assist with troubleshooting cloud-related application issues.

- Support hybrid environments consisting of both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

Database & Data Management Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain database interactions within PowerBuilder applications.

- Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.

- Work with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, or PostgreSQL.

- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security within application environments.

- Troubleshoot database-related issues impacting application performance.

System Integration Responsibilities :

- Participate in application integration projects involving internal and external systems.

- Develop interfaces and integrations between PowerBuilder applications and third-party platforms.

- Support API-based integrations and data exchange processes.

- Collaborate with integration teams to ensure seamless communication between systems.

- Validate integration functionality and resolve integration-related issues.

Testing & Quality Assurance Responsibilities :

- Perform unit testing and integration testing for newly developed features and enhancements.

- Identify and resolve software defects before production deployment.

- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.

- Ensure application quality through proper testing and validation processes.

- Participate in regression testing during application releases.

Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting :

- Monitor application performance and identify areas for improvement.

- Optimize application code, database queries, and system interactions.

- Investigate production incidents and perform root cause analysis.

- Resolve performance bottlenecks and improve system efficiency.

- Provide technical support for critical business applications.

Documentation Responsibilities :

- Create and maintain technical design documents, application architecture documents, and support guides.

- Document application changes, enhancements, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Maintain knowledge repositories and operational documentation.

- Ensure documentation remains current and aligned with system changes.

Required Technical Skills :

1. PowerBuilder Development :

- Strong hands-on experience in PowerBuilder application development.

- Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy enterprise applications.

- Knowledge of PowerBuilder DataWindows, User Objects, Menus, and Event-driven programming.

2. Database Technologies :

- Strong SQL development skills.

- Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase ASE, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.

- Ability to develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.

3. Application Support & Maintenance :

- Experience supporting production applications and resolving application issues.

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.

- Knowledge of application lifecycle management processes.

4. AWS Cloud Exposure :

- Foundational knowledge of AWS cloud services.

- Understanding of AWS EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and networking concepts.

- Exposure to cloud migration projects is preferred.

5. System Integration :

- Basic understanding of APIs, web services, and application integration methodologies.

- Experience integrating enterprise applications with external systems is desirable.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

- 5-6 years of hands-on experience in PowerBuilder development.

- Strong experience maintaining and supporting enterprise business applications.

- Experience working with relational databases and SQL development.

- Basic to intermediate understanding of AWS cloud services.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
