The Power BI Developer (with DAX Expertise) is a hands-on technical role focused on transforming raw business data into actionable insights through sophisticated visualization and data modeling within the Microsoft Power BI ecosystem.

This position requires strong proficiency in designing and deploying interactive reports, with a crucial emphasis on writing and optimizing complex DAX expressions and managing data governance.

The incumbent will act as a key liaison, translating stakeholder requirements into technical analytical solutions.

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer with deep expertise in DAX formula creation and optimization. The ideal candidate will design and deploy interactive dashboards, build efficient and scalable data models with complex relationships and hierarchies, and integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server, Azure, etc.) using Power Query (M language). Key responsibilities include implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), performance tuning through query optimization, and promoting best practices in data visualization and modeling across the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Deliverables

Dashboard & Report Development :

- Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to effectively visualize key business metrics.

- Transform raw data into actionable insights through visually compelling and responsive reports, optimizing user experience.

Data Modeling & Architecture:

- Build efficient data models using established dimensional modeling techniques (e.g., Star Schema), defining necessary relationships, hierarchies, and calculated columns/measures.

- Optimize model performance for rapid query execution, scalability, and reusability across multiple reports.

DAX Formula Creation & Optimization (Core Expertise):

- Write complex DAX expressions for advanced logic, including calculated measures, KPIs, time intelligence functions (e.g., CALCULATE, ALL), and dynamic reporting requirements.

- Troubleshoot and optimize DAX formulas for performance and accuracy, utilizing tools like DAX Studio or Performance Analyzer to identify and refine inefficient code.

Data Integration & ETL:

- Connect to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, Azure, etc.) and external APIs using Power Query (M language).

- Clean, transform, and prepare data efficiently for reporting and analytical consumption using Power Query techniques.

Performance Tuning & Monitoring:

- Monitor and optimize report performance through meticulous query optimization (e.g., folding), efficient data model compression, and effective DAX usage best practices.

Security & Governance:

- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) using DAX roles and dynamic filtering to ensure data access control aligns with organizational policies.

- Manage and publish reports to Power BI Service or Workspace with appropriate security and access controls, and follow organizational data governance standards.

Collaboration and Maintenance:

- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and effectively translate high-level needs into detailed analytical solutions.

- Schedule data refreshes and proactively monitor dashboards for data accuracy.

- Maintain clear documentation for data models, DAX calculations, and Power BI assets, and promote best practices within the team.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

Core Tool: Expertise in designing, developing, and deploying solutions using Power BI.

Advanced DAX: Proven ability to Write complex DAX expressions and Troubleshoot and optimize DAX formulas for performance and accuracy.

Data Modeling: Strong experience building efficient data models with relationships and hierarchies.

ETL/Integration: Proficiency with Power Query (M language) to Connect to multiple data sources and perform data transformation.

Security: Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and managing publishing to Power BI Service.

Analytical Skills: Ability to gather requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of advanced SQL programming and query optimization techniques.

- Experience with cloud data warehousing solutions (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, AWS Redshift).

- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
