About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to join our team and manage mission-critical databases for a leading German product-based MNC. The role involves administration, optimization, and troubleshooting of PostgreSQL environments while ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers.

- Perform database upgrades, migrations, and patch management.

- Implement and manage backup, restore, and recovery processes.

- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and fine-tune configurations.

- Manage database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks including vacuuming, indexing, and analyzing tables.

- Ensure database security, compliance, and access controls.

- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner.

- Collaborate with application developers to optimize SQL queries and database design.

- Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Required Technical Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and administration.

- Expertise in backup & restore procedures, PITR (Point-in-Time Recovery), and failover solutions.

- Proficiency in database upgrades and schema migrations.

- Experience with replication methods such as Streaming Replication or Logical Replication.

- Strong knowledge of VACUUM operations, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

- Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, pgBouncer, Nagios, Zabbix, etc.).

- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.

- Knowledge of security hardening and performance tuning.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience in cloud-hosted PostgreSQL environments (AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL).

- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Exposure to other RDBMS or NoSQL databases is a plus.

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
