We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud-based data and platform services.

The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of various GCP service configurations and their impact on service behavior, performance, scalability, reliability, and cost. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing configuration parameters, identifying performance bottlenecks, troubleshooting production issues, and recommending optimal configurations.

Strong hands-on experience with Dataproc, Dataflow, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Pub/Sub, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Terraform is required. The candidate should also have good scripting skills in Python and preferably possess knowledge of databases.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, configure, manage, and optimize GCP cloud services based on application and data-processing requirements.

- Develop a strong understanding of how different GCP configuration parameters influence service behavior, performance, scalability, availability, and resource utilization.

- Configure and manage GCP services including:

1. Google Cloud Dataproc

2. Google Cloud Dataflow

3. Cloud Composer / Apache Airflow

4. Google Cloud Pub/Sub

5. Google Cloud Storage (GCS)

6. Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

- Analyze the impact of configuration changes on application and platform performance.

- Monitor GCP services and identify issues related to CPU, memory, storage, network, throughput, latency, concurrency, and resource utilization.

- Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues across GCP services and recommend appropriate configuration changes.

- Understand and explain the behavior of GCP services under different workloads and configurations.

- Define and implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance-tracking mechanisms.

- Work with engineering and data teams to optimize cloud infrastructure and data-processing workloads.

- Automate repetitive platform and operational tasks using Python scripting.

- Develop scripts and utilities for monitoring, operational automation, troubleshooting, and reporting.

- Implement and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, following Infrastructure-as-Code best practices.

- Support deployment, configuration management, environment provisioning, and infrastructure changes across development, testing, and production environments.

- Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.

- Continuously evaluate cloud configurations to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

- Document configuration standards, troubleshooting procedures, performance observations, and recommended best practices.
