Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Open Source Application Developer to design, develop, support, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using modern open-source technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in software development, troubleshooting, system integration, and application support, with expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, Perl, Python, Node.js, and frameworks like Django. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development and Maintenance:

- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications using open-source technologies and frameworks.

- Develop robust and scalable applications using programming languages such as C, C++, Perl, Python, and Node.js.

- Build and maintain web-based applications and APIs using frameworks such as Django and other modern development frameworks.

- Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

- Ensure applications meet performance, security, scalability, and reliability standards.

- Maintain and enhance existing applications by implementing new features, fixing bugs, and improving overall system performance.

Application Support and Troubleshooting:

- Provide ongoing production support for business-critical applications and systems.

- Monitor application health and proactively identify potential issues before they impact business operations.

- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to application functionality, performance, and integration.

- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, database, DevOps, and support teams to resolve complex technical challenges.

Open Source Platform Expertise:

- Utilize deep knowledge of open-source technologies and ecosystems to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.

- Evaluate and recommend appropriate open-source tools, libraries, and frameworks based on business requirements.

- Ensure compliance with open-source licensing policies and organizational standards.

- Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in open-source technologies and software development practices.

Solution Design and Implementation:

- Work closely with business analysts, product owners, architects, and development teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Design application architecture, data models, APIs, and integration frameworks to support business objectives.

- Develop reusable components, libraries, and services that improve development efficiency and maintainability.

- Participate in technical design reviews and provide recommendations for system improvements and modernization initiatives.

System Integration:

- Design and implement integrations between applications, databases, third-party systems, and external APIs.

- Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and middleware components to support seamless data exchange across systems.

- Ensure secure and reliable integration of open-source platforms with enterprise applications.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application interoperability and system integrations.

Client and Stakeholder Support:

- Provide technical guidance and consultation to clients regarding open-source platform implementation, customization, and integration.

- Gather and analyze client requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

- Support clients during implementation, migration, and upgrade activities.

- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions, technical workshops, and user training programs when required.

- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, installation guides, user manuals, and support procedures.

Collaboration and Best Practices:

- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, DevOps, infrastructure, and project management teams.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming sessions.

- Follow coding standards, version control practices, and software engineering best practices.

- Contribute to code reviews and mentor junior developers by providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

- Continuously improve development processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance team productivity and software quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong experience in software development using C, C++, Perl, Python, and Node.js.

- Hands-on experience with Python web frameworks such as Django.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

- Experience in developing RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices architectures.

- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line tools.

- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.

- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
