Role : Open iT Software Asset Management (SAM)

Role Overview :

Open iT Software Asset Management will lead the design, implementation, and operational management of the Open iT platform for enterprise software license monitoring and optimization. The role is responsible for managing license telemetry across engineering and enterprise applications, enabling cost optimization, compliance management, and usage analytics through the Open iT platform.

The consultant will work closely with application owners, infrastructure teams, procurement, and IT operations to ensure accurate license usage visibility, reporting automation, and operational stability of the Open iT ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement Open iT license monitoring architecture across enterprise applications.

- Configure and manage Open iT collectors, analyzers, and license server integrations.

- Implement data pipelines for collecting license usage from FlexLM, RLM, Sentinel, DSLS, and other license managers.

- Ensure platform scalability to support monitoring of 100+ applications and multiple license servers.

- Perform upgrades, patching, and performance tuning of Open iT infrastructure.

License Usage Analytics & Optimization :

- Analyze license utilization patterns to identify underutilized or idle licenses.

- Recommend license optimization strategies to reduce software spend.

- Support true-up and audit readiness for major software vendors.

- Provide insights on peak usage, concurrency, and capacity planning.

Reporting & Data Engineering :

- Develop and maintain Open iT reports and dashboards for stakeholders.

- Integrate Open iT data with Power BI, ServiceNow, or enterprise analytics platforms.

Automate reporting for :

1. License utilization

2. Denied usage

3. Idle license recovery

4. Application usage trends

Operations & Support :

- Provide L3 support for Open iT platform and license monitoring infrastructure.

- Troubleshoot issues related to license data collection, reporting failures, or agent connectivity.

- Manage license server monitoring and availability.

- Maintain operational runbooks and standard operating procedures.

Technical Skills Mandatory :

- Strong experience with Open iT License Analyzer or Open iT License Optimizer

Experience managing license servers :

i. FlexLM / FlexNet

ii. RLM

iii. Sentinel

iv. DSLS

- Experience integrating license telemetry into analytics platforms

- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell / Python / Bash)

- Understanding of software asset management and license compliance

Infrastructure Skills :

- Linux and Windows server administration

- Database management (PostgreSQL / MySQL / SQL Server)

- Monitoring and performance troubleshooting

Reporting & Data :

- Power BI / Tableau

- SQL query development

- Data analytics for software usage trends

Desired Skills :

- Experience in engineering application licensing (CAD / EDA / simulation tools).

- Integration with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow SAM Pro.

- Experience in large enterprise environments (3000+ users / 100+ applications).

- Knowledge of cloud license monitoring environments.
