Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure MySQL database solutions for enterprise applications.

- Design logical and physical database models based on business and application requirements.

- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and scheduled events.

- Optimize SQL queries and database objects for maximum performance and efficiency.

- Perform database performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.

- Design and optimize database schemas to support high-volume transactional systems.

- Collaborate closely with Java, .NET, and Full Stack development teams for seamless database integration.

- Design, implement, and maintain replication, partitioning, and high availability solutions.

- Manage database versioning, schema migrations, and release deployments.

- Develop ETL processes and data migration strategies between multiple database environments.

- Implement database security, encryption, auditing, and access control policies.

- Perform database backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity activities.

- Monitor database health, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve performance issues.

- Troubleshoot production database issues and perform root cause analysis.

- Work with AWS database services including Amazon RDS and Aurora MySQL.

- Automate routine database administration and deployment activities using Shell or Python scripting.

- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.

- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and data quality standards.

- Conduct database code reviews and enforce development best practices.

- Mentor junior database engineers and contribute to technical decision-making.

- Stay updated with emerging database technologies, cloud services, and industry best practices.

Required Technical Skills:

- Strong expertise in MySQL 8.x database development.

- Advanced SQL programming and query optimization.

- Database schema design and normalization/denormalization.

- Data modelling (Conceptual, Logical & Physical).

- Indexing strategies and execution plan analysis.

- Query optimization and performance tuning.

- MySQL replication (Asynchronous/Semi-synchronous/Group Replication).

- MySQL Cluster and High Availability architecture.

- Backup & Recovery using MySQL Enterprise Backup, Percona XtraBackup or similar tools.

- Database partitioning and sharding concepts.

- Data migration and ETL development.

- MySQL Workbench.

- Performance monitoring tools (Percona Toolkit, Performance Schema, Slow Query Log).

- Linux/Unix administration.

- Shell scripting and Python automation.

- Git version control.

- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar).

- AWS RDS, Aurora MySQL and cloud database management.

- REST API integration with backend applications.

- Database security, encryption, auditing, and access management.

- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with PostgreSQL or MariaDB.

- Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.

- Experience working in cloud-native environments.

- Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.

- Experience with Kafka or other messaging platforms.

- Familiarity with Liquibase or Flyway for database version control.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.

- Financial Services or Insurance domain experience is preferred.
