METRO AG - Manager - Data Science & AI

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership and Management :

- Lead and manage a team of data scientists, AI specialists, data engineers & BI developers.

- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.

- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.

- Orchestrate C-Level initiatives and make sure all strategic initiatives are aligned and coordinated.

- Regularly reviews progress and performance expectations with leadership teams across the organization, providing expectations, performance planning, feedback, training & development, and performance discussions.

- Plan and execute country roll out and implementation of strategic initiatives.

- Mentors, Coaches, and trains employees at various levels throughout the company.

- Lead by example in New-Ways-of-Working in line with Metro guiding principles.

Strategic Planning :

- Develop and execute a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with the companys objectives.

- Identify opportunities for leveraging data and AI to drive business value.

- Define and implement a strategic roadmap for the CoE, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives to maximize the impact of data and AI.

- Establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Data and AI to drive best practices, foster innovation, and ensure the highest standards of quality across all data and AI initiatives.

- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate data and AI initiatives into the overall business strategy.

- Collaborate with Leadership at global Metro AG sites, conduct workshops to identify critical to business problems and convert them into projects.

Project Management :

- End to end accountability from concept design of a business transformation (Data and AI Projects) to implementation.

- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Expertise :

- Stay current with the latest advancements in data science and AI technologies.

- Provide technical guidance and support to the team.

- Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data and AI capabilities.

Data Governance and Compliance :

- Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices.

- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

- Promote data quality and integrity across the organization.

Qualifications :

Experience :

- 12+ years of experience in data science, artificial intelligence, or related fields.

- Proven experience in managing and leading data and AI teams.

- Demonstrated success in delivering complex data and AI projects.

Educational Qualification :

- Minimum Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field.

- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline is preferred.

- Graduate and Postgraduates.

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.

- Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.

- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

- Strong understanding of cloud platform and org level implementation expertise.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
