Job Description

Manager - IT System Engineering (Middleware and Cloud Operations):

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of middleware platforms across Windows and Linux environments, including application servers, web servers, messaging, API gateways, caching, and integration engines.

- Manage and support middleware workloads on AWS services such as EC2, EKS/ECS, Lambda, RDS, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, and ALB/NLB.

- Administer Windows-based middleware stacks, including IIS, .NET application hosting, Windows Server services, and integration with Active Directory and Windows authentication.

- Administer Linux/Java-based middleware stacks, including Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, and related ecosystems.

- Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to improve operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.

- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve middleware and cloud infrastructure incidents; participate in 24x7 on-call support as required.

- Build automation for configuration, deployments, patching, and scaling using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Implement observability across both Windows and Linux stacks using centralized logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog.

- Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, vulnerability remediation, and resilience testing for middleware components.

- Collaborate with application, DevOps, security, network, and infrastructure teams to design secure and scalable integration patterns.

- Maintain operational documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and change records.

- Drive standardization, continuous improvement, and best practices across middleware and cloud operations.

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, including mentoring, peer review, and support for incident resolution and design decisions.

Good to Have:

- Experience driving cloud cost optimization initiatives such as right-sizing, savings plans, reserved instances, spot instances, and storage lifecycle policies.

- Experience with containerized workloads and Kubernetes platform support.

- Experience with disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and resilience engineering.

- Familiarity with ITIL processes, change management, and service ownership in regulated enterprise environments.

- Experience leading modernization or migration efforts from legacy middleware platforms to cloud-native or hybrid architectures.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelors/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

- 8+ years of experience with middleware technologies across Windows and Linux platforms.

- Hands-on experience with IIS and .NET application hosting, Windows Server administration, and PowerShell scripting.

- Hands-on experience with Java or Node.js middleware such as Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, and JBoss.

- Experience with messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ and IBM MQ.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture.

- Demonstrated experience applying AWS Well-Architected principles to production systems.

- Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Python, and Bash.

- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.

- Solid understanding of networking, IAM, VPCs, load balancing, DNS, and Windows authentication in AWS environments.

- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch and Datadog.

- Proven experience in a 24x7 production support environment with strong troubleshooting skills.

- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
