Job Description :
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe z/OS System Programmer with 6-11 years of experience in z/OS system programming, software maintenance, I/O architecture, and performance diagnostics. The role involves managing z/OS software installation and maintenance, diagnosing system issues, supporting upgrades, and optimizing mainframe I/O performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Configure and manage SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended) environments for z/OS software installation and maintenance.
- Order, receive, install, and maintain IBM and third-party software.
- Perform z/OS software release upgrades and maintenance using z/OSMF.
- Build and manage software maintenance workflows through z/OSMF.
- Use IBMLink to order software, research IBM software issues, and create/manage IBM problem tickets.
- Analyze SVC dumps, LOGREC data, and system diagnostic information to troubleshoot z/OS issues.
- Perform Assembler programming and analysis for system-level troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Manage and troubleshoot z/OS I/O architecture and performance.
- Work with FICON protocols and diagnose I/O-related performance issues.
- Use RMF, SMF, and DCOLLECT for system and I/O performance analysis.
- Diagnose storage, multipathing, and I/O performance issues in collaboration with systems programming and storage teams.
- Support system performance optimization, problem determination, and production issue resolution.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow established change, maintenance, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6 to 11 years of experience in z/OS system programming.
- Strong hands-on experience with SMP/E configuration, software installation, and maintenance.
- Experience with z/OSMF software installation and maintenance workflows.
- Hands-on experience with IBMLink for IBM software ordering and problem management.
- Strong knowledge of z/OS I/O architecture and FICON.
- Experience with RMF, SMF, and DCOLLECT for performance and diagnostic analysis.
- Experience analyzing SVC dumps and LOGREC data.
- Knowledge of Assembler for system-level analysis and troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-determination skills.
- Good understanding of storage and multipathing concepts in z/OS environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
