Senior Engineer - AWS Automation & Disaster Recovery

Job Summary :

We are looking for a Senior Engineer specializing in AWS automation and disaster recovery to design, implement, and maintain resilient cloud infrastructure for mission-critical workloads. The role focuses on automated failover and recovery, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), disaster recovery testing, and ensuring business continuity through defined Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement AWS-based disaster recovery strategies for critical applications and infrastructure.

- Develop automated failover, backup, restoration, and recovery workflows aligned with RTO/RPO requirements.

- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK, or similar tools.

- Conduct disaster recovery drills, failover simulations, and recovery testing to validate system resilience.

- Work with application, infrastructure, and security teams to establish disaster recovery readiness across environments.

- Create and maintain recovery runbooks, DR procedures, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.

- Monitor recovery capabilities, troubleshoot failures, and identify opportunities to improve availability and resilience.

- Evaluate AWS services and technologies to strengthen disaster recovery and business continuity practices.

- Apply AWS security best practices across recovery environments, access controls, and automated processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 5+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering, including at least 3 years of hands-on AWS experience.

- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, and CloudFront or Global Accelerator.

- Practical experience implementing disaster recovery, backup, restoration, and business continuity solutions in AWS.

- Experience designing automated failover and recovery processes against defined RTO/RPO targets.

- Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or similar languages.

- Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.

- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Amazon ECS, or Amazon EKS.

- Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and problem-solving skills.

- Understanding of cloud security best practices and disaster recovery architecture.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise disaster recovery programs.

- Experience planning and executing DR drills, recovery simulations, and resilience assessments.

- Knowledge of multi-region AWS architectures and high-availability design patterns.

- Ability to coordinate recovery activities across application, infrastructure, and security teams.
