LINUX DEVICE DRIVER (LDD) DEVELOPER - LEAD

Location : Bangalore / Kochi

Experience : 3 - 8+ Years

Employment Type : Full-Time

Work Mode : Work From Office (WFO)

Working Days : 5 Days a Week

Working Hours : 9 : 00 AM - 6 : 00 PM

JOB OVERVIEW :

We are looking for experienced Linux Device Driver (LDD) Developers and Technical Leads with strong hands-on expertise in Linux Kernel, Device Driver development, Embedded Linux and Android Linux Kernel.

The role involves developing, porting, integrating and debugging Linux Kernel and Device Drivers across embedded platforms. Candidates with experience in automotive infotainment, cockpit or other automotive embedded systems will be highly preferred.

For senior candidates, the role will also involve technical leadership, architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring and driving complex kernel and driver development activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Develop, maintain, port and integrate Linux Kernel and Device Drivers for embedded platforms.

- Work extensively with Linux Kernel internals, Embedded Linux and Android Linux Kernel.

- Develop and integrate drivers across multiple hardware interfaces.

- Work on driver porting and integration for UFS, Filesystem, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, UART and Display.

- Analyze and troubleshoot Linux Kernel issues, system crashes, kernel panics and stability problems.

- Analyze kernel logs, crash dumps and system behavior to identify root causes.

- Perform debugging and root-cause analysis of complex system-level issues.

- Work on Linux Kernel customization, configuration and platform integration.

- Support BSP, hardware bring-up and embedded platform integration activities.

- Collaborate with hardware, BSP, middleware, Android and application teams.

- Contribute to open-source Linux development and kernel-level improvements.

- Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.

- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.

- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance.

- For lead-level positions, take ownership of technical deliverables and drive resolution of complex kernel and driver issues.

MANDATORY SKILLS :

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Linux Kernel and Device Driver development.

- Strong programming skills in C.

- Strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals.

- Hands-on experience with Linux Device Drivers.

- Practical experience with Embedded Linux.

- Experience with Android Linux Kernel.

- Knowledge of Real-Time Linux and RT porting.

- Hands-on experience with Linux driver porting and integration.

- Experience with one or more of the following interfaces : UFS, Filesystem, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, UART, Display.

- Strong experience in kernel debugging and crash analysis.

- Ability to troubleshoot kernel panics, crashes and system stability issues.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

- We are looking for hands-on Linux Kernel and Device Driver professionals who have practical experience working close to the hardware and operating-system layers.

- Candidates with only embedded application development experience, without substantial Linux Kernel or Device Driver exposure, may not be suitable.

- For lead-level positions, candidates should demonstrate both deep technical expertise and the ability to guide engineers, own technical decisions and resolve complex system-level problems.
