Position Title : Lead / Senior Database Administrator (DBA)
Location : [Mumbai]
Department : IT Infrastructure / Data Engineering
Reports To : Head of Infrastructure / IT Director / CTO
Role Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Lead / Senior Database Administrator with 10-15 years of hands-on expertise in managing enterprise-grade database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Oracle Database administration along with strong exposure to MongoDB, Amazon Redshift, MySQL, and MS SQL Server. This role requires ownership of database architecture, performance optimization, security, disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud database strategy across large-scale environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the installation, configuration, upgrade, and administration of Oracle Database environments (19c and above).
- Manage large-scale MongoDB environments including replication, sharding, cluster design,monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Administer Amazon Redshift clusters, optimize workloads, manage snapshots, and support data warehousing operations.
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies using RMAN, Redshift snapshots, and MongoDB backup tools.
- Lead database performance tuning initiatives including query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and schema optimization.
- Manage database security including encryption, user roles, access control, auditing, compliance, and vulnerability management.
- Oversee high availability solutions such as Oracle RAC, Data Guard, MongoDB Replica Sets,clustering, and failover mechanisms.
- Drive capacity planning, storage optimization, and database scalability strategies for enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with application, cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps teams for database integration and issue resolution.
- Support ETL / ELT pipelines and integrations involving Oracle, MongoDB, Redshift, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
- Lead database migration, upgrade, and modernization projects across on-premise and cloud platforms.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational standards.
- Mentor junior DBAs and guide cross-functional teams on database best practices and governance.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration including backup/recovery, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, performance tuning, and patching.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB administration including replication, sharding, cluster monitoring, backup/restore, and query tuning.
- Strong understanding of Amazon Redshift architecture, workload management, query optimization, and snapshots.
- Good hands-on experience with MySQL and MS SQL Server administration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, indexing, partitioning, normalization, transaction management, and database design principles.
- Experience working with Linux / Unix operating systems for database administration.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of database monitoring tools, scripting, and automation.
- Knowledge of compliance standards, security policies, and data governance practices.

Education & Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related fields.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in database administration, database engineering, or related infrastructure roles.
