Role : L2 Service Provisioning Specialist

Location : Bangalore

Experience : 5 to 6 years (This is a mid-to-senior level specialized role)

Notice Period : Immediate to 30 days (The company is looking to hire quickly).

Qualifications and Core Responsibilities :

The successful candidate must have a strong, practical background in optical networks. The responsibilities will revolve around setting up and maintaining high-speed network services.

1. Optical Network Expertise :

- The core of the role is hands-on experience in the entire lifecycle of optical services:

Provisioning : Setting up and configuring new optical services and circuits.

Operations : Day-to-day management and maintenance of the live network.

Troubleshooting : Diagnosing and resolving complex faults and performance issues in the optical layer.

Experience required : 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in these areas.

2. Deep Technical Knowledge :

- You must possess in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the underlying technologies that form modern high-capacity networks.

- DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing): Understanding how multiple high-speed data streams are transmitted simultaneously over a single optical fiber using different wavelengths (colors of light).

- OTN (Optical Transport Network): Knowledge of the digital wrapper technology that standardizes and improves the transport of various network client signals (like Ethernet, SDH/SONET) over DWDM.

- ASON (Automatically Switched Optical Network): Experience with dynamic, self-healing, and mesh-based optical networks that can automatically establish or restore connections.

3. Vendor Equipment Experience :

Practical experience working with specific hardware is crucial :

- Hands-on Experience: You must have direct experience configuring and managing optical transport vendor equipment (e.g., Ciena, Huawei, Cisco, Nokia).

Added Advantage :

- Experience on Nokia 1830 PSS (Photonic Service Switch) equipment is highly desirable and will significantly boost a candidate's profile.

4. Essential Skills :

- Beyond technical knowledge, strong analytical skills are required to perform the L2 troubleshooting role effectively:

Excellent Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills :

- The ability to methodically and logically diagnose complex network issues that fall outside of routine, known errors.
