As a Backup Administrator, you will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of our backup and recovery infrastructure, primarily focusing on Hitachi storage solutions and Commvault software.

You will work closely with infrastructure teams, database administrators, and application owners to ensure the availability, integrity, and recoverability of critical business data.

Your expertise will be crucial in implementing and maintaining robust backup strategies, troubleshooting issues, and participating in disaster recovery exercises.

This role directly impacts the business by safeguarding data assets and minimizing downtime in the event of data loss or system failures.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer and maintain the Commvault backup environment, including configuration, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- Manage and support Hitachi storage systems used for backup and recovery, ensuring optimal performance and capacity utilization.

- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to meet defined RTOs and RPOs for various applications and databases.

- Perform regular backup and recovery testing to validate the effectiveness of backup procedures and identify areas for improvement.

- Troubleshoot backup and recovery failures, working with relevant teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

- Monitor backup jobs and storage capacity, proactively addressing potential issues to prevent disruptions.

- Document backup procedures and configurations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for operational support.

- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring the successful recovery of critical systems and data.

- Collaborate with database administrators (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle RMAN) to ensure proper backup and recovery configurations for databases.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in administering and troubleshooting Commvault backup environments, including policy configuration, media management, and reporting.

- Proven ability to manage and maintain Hitachi storage systems used for backup and recovery, including hardware and software components.

- Strong understanding of backup and recovery concepts, including RTOs, RPOs, and different backup methodologies.

- Experience in developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies for various applications and databases, including MySQL, MSSQL, and Oracle RMAN.

- Ability to perform disaster recovery exercises and validate the effectiveness of backup procedures.

- Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve backup and recovery failures.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with infrastructure teams,

database administrators, and application owners.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

- Adaptable to working in a dynamic environment and willing to learn new technologies.
