Kapiva - Software Development Lead - React.js/Next.js

Role Summary :

We are looking for a Software Development Lead (SDL) to lead a team of engineers responsible for building and scaling Kapiva's Ecommerce and Health Tech platforms.

The SDL will serve as the technical backbone of the team, driving architecture, design, and execution while mentoring engineers and fostering innovation through AI-assisted development and automation.

You'll be hands-on in design and coding but also guide SDE-1, SDE-2, and SDE-3 engineers to deliver high-quality, performant, and secure applications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead a team of Full Stack and Backend Engineers in designing and developing scalable systems.

- Drive architecture discussions for microservices, APIs, and distributed data systems.

- Partner with Product Managers to translate business goals into technical plans and deliverables.

- Write and review high-quality, maintainable code; set coding standards and practices.

- Introduce and integrate AI-assisted development tools (LLMs, copilots, code generation) to enhance developer productivity.

- Collaborate with the DevOps and Security teams to ensure robust, secure, and observable systems.

- Own performance optimization, scalability, and reliability of key services.

- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and technical upskilling.

- Champion engineering excellence, continuous delivery, and test automation practices.

- Stay hands-on in key modules, especially for architectural or performance-critical components.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- 6-8 years of experience in software engineering, with 1-2 years leading teams.

- Strong expertise in backend technologies (Node.js, Java, or Python).

- Deep understanding of system design, microservices, and RESTful APIs.

- Experience with frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) and full stack integrations.

- Solid grasp of databases (SQL, NoSQL), caching, and message queues.

- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and CI/CD practices.

- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations, personalization systems, or recommendation engines.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Bonus Points :

- Experience leading engineering teams in Ecommerce or Health Tech domains.

- Familiarity with LLM-based tools, AI code review assistants, or AI-driven QA automation.

- Contributions to internal platforms, frameworks, or developer productivity tools.

- Exposure to data-driven product design and A/B experimentation
