About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced JIRA Consultant with deep expertise in Atlassian tools administration, customization, integration, and optimization.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable JIRA environments to support Agile, DevOps, and enterprise-level project management frameworks.

This position requires not only hands-on technical skills but also the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, streamline workflows, and ensure system efficiency across large-scale implementations.

Key Responsibilities :

JIRA Administration & Customization :

- Configure, administer, and optimize JIRA Software, JIRA Service Management, and Confluence to align with organizational needs.

- Design, implement, and maintain custom workflows, fields, screens, permissions, and notification schemes.

- Develop automation rules, scripts, and triggers to streamline operations.

Advanced Configuration & Scripting :

- Create and optimize complex JQL queries for reporting and dashboards.

- Utilize ScriptRunner, JMWE, or equivalent plugins for advanced automation and customization.

- Develop solutions using REST APIs, Groovy scripts, and JSON for integrations and automation.

Integration & DevOps Alignment :

- Integrate JIRA with tools like Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, ServiceNow, Bamboo, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Collaborate with development and operations teams to align JIRA usage with Agile and DevOps best practices.

- Ensure smooth interoperability of Atlassian suite with third-party enterprise applications.

System Migration, Upgrade, and Consolidation :

- Lead migration projects from JIRA Server/Data Center to Cloud or across environments.

- Perform version upgrades, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

- Execute consolidation of multiple JIRA instances ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.

Governance, Security & Best Practices :

- Define and enforce governance policies for JIRA usage, user management, and permission structures.

- Establish role-based access controls and audit processes to maintain compliance.

- Provide recommendations on best practices for scaling JIRA environments.

Stakeholder Engagement & Support :

- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and development teams to translate requirements into JIRA configurations.

- Provide end-user training, documentation, and support for JIRA and Confluence usage.

- Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate system issues as needed.

Mandatory Skills & Experience :

- 10+ years of experience in JIRA administration and Atlassian ecosystem management.

- Strong expertise in JQL, workflows, automation rules, schemes, and custom configurations.

- Hands-on experience with Confluence, Bitbucket, and related Atlassian tools.

- Expertise in ScriptRunner, JMWE, and other advanced JIRA plugins.

- Proven knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and working in DevOps environments.

- Strong integration experience with Git, Jenkins, ServiceNow, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Experience in migrations, version upgrades, and large-scale instance consolidation (Cloud, Data Center, Server).

- Proficiency in REST APIs, Groovy scripting, and JSON.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Atlassian Certifications such as ACP-620 (Managing Jira Cloud Projects), ACP-120 (Jira Administration for Cloud), or ACP-100 (Jira Administration for Data Center and Server).

- Experience with enterprise Agile tools such as Portfolio for Jira / Advanced Roadmaps.

- Knowledge of ITIL processes and JIRA Service Management best practices.
