Aura is a US-based startup with a stellar ex-FANG team spanning across the US and India. Aura is hiring a Backend Engineer (1- 5 years of experience) to help us build AI-powered tools for small businesses. Youll join a lean, product-driven team, own features end-to-end, and scale services that process real-time data from smart-home devices, LLM pipelines, and field-service integrations. Below is a brief overview of the role.

Core Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs that power Auras client apps and partner integrations.

- Model and persist domain data in SQL-based databases; tune queries, create indexes, and write migration scripts.

- Implement business logic in JAVA/GoLang micro-services, following SOLID principles

- Writing unit and integration tests.

- Instrument and monitor services with OpenTelemetry and logging; set up SLOs/alerts to meet our 99.9 % availability goal.

- Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and data-science teams to ship new homeowner features every sprint.

- Participate in design and code reviews, share best practices, and mentor newer engineers on API design and cloud patterns.

- Continuously improve build pipelines and CI/CD workflows for rapid, safe releases.

Required Qualifications :

- 1- 5 years of professional backend or full-stack experience shipping production code (Java/Kotlin, Go, or similar).

- Solid grasp of REST/gRPC API design, authentication (OAuth 2/OIDC), and distributed systems fundamentals.

- Hands-on with SQL/NoSQL data stores, schema design, and data-consistency patterns.

- Comfort with Docker/Kubernetes; ability to debug services in a cloud environment (GKE preferred).

- Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, and observability tooling.

- Effective written & verbal communication; able to explain trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have :

- Experience with Google Cloud (Spanner, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run) or similar managed services.

- Exposure to event-driven or streaming architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub).

- Knowledge of large-language-model workflows or vector-database search.

Education :

UG: M. Tech or B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics/Telecommunication, Electrical and Electronics, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Computers, Electrical from a Tier 1/Tier 2 University
