Role Overview :
We are seeking a high-performing Senior Java Backend Engineer with a deep specialization in Database Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling high-throughput, low-latency backend microservices. Your primary mission will be identifying data-layer bottlenecks, optimizing complex Oracle SQL/PL-SQL queries, and leveraging AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure our platform handles massive transactional volume seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Backend Engineering & Microservices :
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend microservices using Java (11+) and the Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud).
- Implement clean architecture principles, emphasizing high test coverage, maintainability, and optimal memory management.
- Build and expose highly efficient, secure RESTful APIs and event-driven consumers.
2. Query Optimization & Oracle DB Performance :
- Act as the core subject matter expert for Oracle Database performance tuning.
- Analyze and optimize complex, slow-running SQL queries, multi-table joins, and heavy PL/SQL stored procedures/packages.
- Interpret and act upon Oracle performance tools, including Execution Plans, AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) reports, and ADDM analysis.
- Design and implement advanced data-indexing strategies, partitioning schemes, and caching layers to minimize database I/O bottlenecks.
3. AWS Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure :
- Deploy, monitor, and scale applications within the AWS Cloud environment.
- Work with core AWS infrastructure components like ECS/EKS (Containers), EC2, Lambda, SQS/SNS, and API Gateway.
- Optimize database connectivity, pooling, and performance on AWS-hosted databases (RDS Oracle or EC2 Oracle installations).
- Implement cloud-native logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana) to proactively capture system anomalies.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Experience: 5+ years of core software engineering experience specializing in Java enterprise applications.
- Java Ecosystem: Advanced proficiency in Java and extensive hands-on experience with Spring Boot microservices.
- Database Expertise: Exceptional, proven skills in Oracle SQL tuning. You must understand indexing (B-tree, Bitmap), query hints, execution paths, and memory structures (SGA/PGA).
- Cloud Infrastructure: Deep practical experience with AWS services and deploying enterprise Java applications to cloud environments.
- Performance Engineering: Strong understanding of concurrency, multi-threading, JVM tuning, and connection pooling properties (e.g., HikariCP).
- Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions), Git, and build tools like Maven or Gradle.
What Will Make You Stand Out :
- AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications.
- Experience migration monolith legacy applications/databases into AWS cloud microservices.
- Familiarity with distributed caching solutions like Redis or Memcached to alleviate database load.
