Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking experienced Core Routing Network Engineers to deliver WAN, PoP, hosting, and site core networking infrastructure as part of a large-scale corporate divestiture programme. The role is responsible for designing, building, and migrating Layer 3 core network services including WAN replacement, new PoP build-outs, hosting interconnects, site core routing, and multicast while simultaneously performing configuration cleanup on divested-entity infrastructure ahead of Day 1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build new PoP infrastructure including colocation procurement, rack and stack, and initial configuration
- Configure perimeter security integration (Palo Alto) at new PoP locations
- Establish internet edge connectivity including Zscaler GRE tunnel integration
- Configure SD-WAN termination at new PoPs
- Deliver network integration for hosting environments (spine-and-leaf, pseudowire, L3 peering)
- Deploy new L3 core switches and integrate with the new WAN across multiple sites
- Remove retained-entity VRFs and routing configuration from divested-entity core switches
Tech Stack & Requirements:
- Strong enterprise/service provider routing background (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP)
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst (9000 series) and Nexus (NX-OS) platforms
- Experience with WAN design, build, and migration (MPLS, SD-WAN, point-to-point circuits)
- Working knowledge of Python and familiarity with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Daily use of Git and GitHub workflows
- CCNP/CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or Service Provider certification is desirable
Working Practices:
- Agile delivery within two-week sprints
- All code and configuration submitted via pull request with peer review where applicable
- Design decisions documented and aligned to the programme's design assurance framework
