Job Summary :

We are looking for a skilled Integration Engineer (or Middleware Specialist) with hands-on experience in IBM DataPower and Kong API Gateway. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing secure and scalable API solutions using enterprise-grade gateways. You will play a key role in the digital transformation and modernization of APIs and service integration.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement API gateway policies and configurations using IBM DataPower and Kong.

- Build and manage REST/SOAP-based API proxies, transformation rules, and security policies.

- Integrate APIs with backend services using XML, XSLT, JSON, and SOAP in DataPower.

- Configure Kong Gateway plugins, routing rules, authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT), and traffic control.

- Work closely with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to enable CI/CD for API lifecycle management.

- Monitor, debug, and optimize API performance and availability.

- Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, API governance, and best practices.

- Support deployment and production operations, troubleshooting issues in test and live environments.

Mandatory Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway appliances or virtual edition

- Good knowledge of Kong API Gateway (OSS or Enterprise), including plugin development and custom policies

- Experience with API security protocols: OAuth 2.0, JWT, MTLS

- Proficiency in XML, XSLT, WSDL, JSON, and REST/SOAP web services

- Understanding of API design patterns, microservices architecture, and integration best practices

- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with APIC (IBM API Connect) is a plus

- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized API deployments

- Scripting knowledge (Shell, Python, or Lua for Kong plugin development)

- Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Elastic Stack

Soft Skills :

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Education :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
