Infosys - Mainframe Production Support Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mainframe Production Support Engineer to support mission-critical enterprise applications and ensure smooth production operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Mainframe technologies, production support processes, incident management, and troubleshooting within high-availability environments.

The role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise in Mainframe technologies, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and improve system stability.

Key Responsibilities :

Production Support & Incident Management :

- Provide L2/L3 production support for Mainframe applications and systems.

- Monitor production environments and ensure application availability and stability.

- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within defined SLAs.

- Perform root cause analysis for recurring production issues and implement preventive measures.

- Coordinate with development, infrastructure, and business teams for issue resolution.

Mainframe Application Support :

- Support and maintain Mainframe applications developed using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and related technologies.

- Execute batch job monitoring, scheduling, and failure recovery activities.

- Perform code analysis and support debugging for application issues.

- Ensure smooth deployment and migration of application changes into production environments.

Solution Analysis & Functional Support :

- Participate in requirement analysis, solution design, and effort estimation activities.

- Create functional specifications and support detailed process documentation.

- Understand business requirements and map them into technical solutions.

- Evaluate alternative solutions and support proof-of-concept activities where required.

Process Improvement & Governance :

- Ensure adherence to ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

- Support system audits, compliance requirements, and operational governance activities.

- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.

- Maintain documentation for incidents, fixes, SOPs, and operational procedures.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :

- Work closely with consulting, development, QA, infrastructure, and client teams.

- Participate in status reviews, support calls, and operational governance meetings.

- Ensure timely communication and updates to stakeholders regarding production issues and resolutions.

Desired Candidate Profile :

- BE / B.Tech / MCA / M.Tech / MSc / MS or equivalent qualification.

- Strong experience in Mainframe Production Support and Application Support roles.

- Hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and Mainframe utilities.

- Experience in batch job monitoring, scheduling tools, and production issue management.

- Good understanding of ITIL support processes and SLA-driven environments.

- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

- Ability to work in rotational shifts and critical support environments.
