Job Description :

We are looking for a Python Infrastructure Software Engineer / Backend Platform Engineer to design and develop a new Device Boot Service.

The service will manage server and device boot requests through REST APIs, persist request data in a database, process long-running boot and provisioning operations through asynchronous workers, and track requests through a state-machine-based workflow.

The ideal candidate will have strong production-grade Python backend development experience and a good understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, infrastructure automation, and observability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and develop scalable backend services using Python.

- Build and maintain RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django REST Framework, or Flask.

- Finalize and implement the data model, API architecture, state-machine workflow, and migration strategy.

- Develop database models, API endpoints, request handling, serialization, and database migrations.

- Implement asynchronous and background processing using Celery, RQ, Dramatiq, or similar frameworks.

- Design reliable workflows with retry mechanisms, idempotent operations, scheduled jobs, and failure handling.

- Implement state-machine-based workflows with concurrency-safe state transitions.

- Integrate the service with internal boot, provisioning, and BMC systems.

- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using pytest or similar testing frameworks.

- Implement monitoring and observability through metrics, structured logging, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.

- Contribute to service deployment, troubleshooting, operational readiness, and production support.

- Create and maintain runbooks and technical documentation.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, DevOps, and engineering teams to deliver reliable backend solutions.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development in production environments.

Experience building production-grade web services using one or more of :

1. FastAPI

2. Django REST Framework

3. Flask

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, API design, request handling, and serialization.

- Hands-on experience with ORMs, data models, relational databases, and database migrations.

- Experience with asynchronous/background processing frameworks such as Celery, RQ, or Dramatiq.

- Good understanding of retry handling, idempotency, scheduled jobs, and asynchronous workflows.

- Experience designing or implementing state-machine-based workflows.

- Understanding of concurrency, thread/process safety, and concurrency-safe state transitions.

- Strong testing experience with pytest or similar frameworks.

- Experience with production observability, including logging, metrics, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent tools.

- Good understanding of software development best practices, version control, debugging, and code quality.

Good to Have:

- Experience with infrastructure automation or server provisioning.

- Knowledge of PXE/iPXE booting and server imaging.

- Understanding of BIOS/UEFI.

- Experience with Redfish/IPMI and BMC interfaces.

- Knowledge of DHCP/DNS and Linux-based server provisioning.

- Experience working with hardware or data-center infrastructure.

- Exposure to distributed systems and long-running asynchronous workflows.
