Position Purpose :
A highly proficient business intelligence and analytics professional supporting decision-making across the Higher Education industry.
The BI Manager will lead the development, maintenance, and oversight of reporting and analytics processes that provide actionable insights into IDP Partnerships business and product performance. This includes metrics on student placement, digital marketing, and other core areas that support both internal stakeholders and clients. The role will contribute to company-wide initiatives that align with our vision to empower students to access Higher Education through the worlds most trusted global platform and connected community.
In this role, you'll oversee and mentor analysts in Chennai, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of internal and client-facing reporting. You will play a key role in strengthening BI processes, enabling data-driven decision making, and supporting new business opportunities through clear, reliable insights.
You'll be based in our Chennai office and report to the Associate Head of Data Analytics in London.

Deliverables :
Primary Deliverables :
- Understand business needs and objectives, and ensure reporting and analytics outputs address these effectively.
- Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Own the roadmap for internal and client reporting, acting as a key stakeholder touchpoint to balance priorities and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee and mentor analysts in Chennai to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely delivery of reporting outputs.
- Support the migration from ETL to ELT frameworks by helping design and deploy SQL views and transformation logic that underpin BI and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate reporting processes, collaborating with the Data Engineering Team and other stakeholders to enhance efficiency and data quality.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of IDPs data sources and ensure reports integrate and present these coherently.
- Champion data literacy and the use of BI across the business, encouraging data-driven decision making.

Personal Specification :
Essential Requirements :
- Significant experience as a data/BI analyst with excellent data manipulation, analysis, visualisation and reporting skills.
- Depth of experience working with large datasets, developing dashboards, and producing performance metrics for business decision-making.
- Advanced SQL skills, with experience designing and deploying SQL views for transformation logic (ELT frameworks desirable).
- Strong experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau preferred; Power BI or equivalent acceptable).
- Database experience in cloud environments (Redshift/AWS preferred).
- Advanced Excel and/or similar analytical tools.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee, mentor, and develop analysts.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business needs into reporting and BI deliverables.
- A flexible and agile approach, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills, focusing on building data literacy and promoting a data-driven culture.
Desirable Requirements :
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and automation.
- Experience working with data pipeline and workflow tools (e.g. Alteryx, dbt, Airflow).
- Familiarity with education sector data and analytics.
- Active involvement in the BI/analytics community (e.g. Tableau community, SQL forums, meetups).
