Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced VMware to Hyper-V Migration Engineer to execute end-to-end virtual machine migrations from VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) to Microsoft Hyper-V. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Instant VM Recovery, NetApp Shift Toolkit, and ONTAP.

Key Responsibilities :

- Execute end-to-end VM migrations from VMware vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V using Veeam IVMR and NetApp Shift Toolkit.

- Plan and execute migration waves including VM sizing, scheduling, change management, pre-checks, cutover, rollback, and post-migration validation.

- Configure and manage Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup/replica jobs, IVMR, network mapping, and final cutover.

- Configure and operate NetApp Shift Toolkit on ONTAP for large-scale VM disk conversion and migration.

- Work with SMB 3.0, NFS, SMB Constrained Delegation, and NetApp export policies.

- Prepare source VMs by handling VMware Tools removal, driver staging, disk cleanup, and migration readiness checks.

- Ensure Hyper-V hosts and clusters are properly sized, configured, and ready for migration waves.

- Validate migrated VMs for boot, networking, storage connectivity, integration services, and application functionality.

- Troubleshoot migration, virtualization, networking, and storage issues during cutover.

- Maintain migration runbooks, tracking sheets, status reports, and lessons learned.

- Provide regular migration updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders.

- Support evening/weekend migration windows when required.

Must-Have Skills :

- Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server virtualization.

- Expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Instant VM Recovery (IVMR).

- Strong experience with NetApp Shift Toolkit and ONTAP.

- Good knowledge of SMB, NFS, networking, storage, and VM disk conversion.

- Experience planning and executing large-scale migration waves with minimal downtime.

- Strong troubleshooting and incident-resolution skills across compute, storage, and networking.

- Good documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
