Role & responsibilities :

The Migration Engineer (Mid) executes bulk templated VM and server migrations within a VCF9 Migration Factory Delivery Pod under Senior Migration Engineer guidance, using VMware HCX and Zerto-based migration tooling. Supports customer migrations (relocations, colocations, consolidations, and cloud migrations to VMware Cloud Foundation) and data center modernizations as outlined in the Statement of Work.

Key Responsibilities :

- Executes bulk templated migrations using VMware HCX (bulk migration, vMotion migration, replication-assisted vMotion) and Zerto-based replication for VM and server moves as defined by SOWs and migration plans.

- Monitors, logs, and tests customer configurations for performance and stability on vSphere and vSAN target environments post-migration.

- Coordinates and consults with the Migration Coordinator/PMO and Sales teams to streamline and detail out the build, deploy, and management process for scoping and design of systems being migrated into VMware Cloud Foundation.

- Proactively identifies potential issues and works through resolution with internal and external stakeholders during wave execution.

- Troubleshoots migration issues, performs root cause analysis, and tunes performance on HCX/Zerto migration jobs.

- Implements new technologies in customer environments, including vSphere/vSAN upgrades, virtualization projects, and infrastructure projects tied to VCF adoption.

- Performs network analysis for client networks in coordination with the Network/NSX Engineer, identifying deficiencies and implementing improvements for stabilization.

- Generates and maintains migration configuration documents for all client production networks and systems.

- Works with the Automation Engineer to leverage PowerCLI, Ansible, and Terraform automation to improve migration delivery quality, speed, and experience.

- Follows Senior Migration Engineer guidance on Infrastructure-as-Code deployment practices to support repeatable builds.

- Actively takes ownership to address issues and solve problems; recommends best practices for team processes.
