Head of Engineering - Java Technologies

Responsibilities :

- Define and drive the engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap in line with company goals.

- Lead and mentor high-performing teams across backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA.

- Own the architecture, design, and scalability of systems powering cross-border payments.

- Ensure best practices in secure coding, compliance, and data protection (critical in fintech).

- Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, and execution.

- Oversee hiring, performance management, and career development within the tech org.

- Stay ahead of industry trends in fintech, payments, and cloud technologies to guide long-term strategy.

- Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and infrastructure investments.

Requirements :

- Experience : 9+ years in technology/engineering roles with at least 3+ years in leadership.

- Proven track record of scaling and leading teams in high-growth product/fintech/startup environments.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud (AWS/GCP), and distributed systems.

- Deep understanding of system design, data modeling, and real-time transaction systems.

- Knowledge of the payments domain, security protocols, and compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR, SOC2) is highly desirable.

- Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable SaaS platforms.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- A passion for mentoring engineers and building a high-performance culture.
