The Role :
Were hiring a Founding Game Engineer (Mobile) to own everything that makes our vocal coach feel like a delightful, game?like(no flashcards) experience: core loops, progression systems, and feedback that make people want to come back and sing again.
Build playful, game?like experiences around singing :
- Closely work with product and users to build and ship interactive games
- Prototype and ship our AI-based voice insights into game systems, unlocks, and quests.
- Integrate voice as inputs into various game experiences(similar to singshot.singonesong.com)
- Use a mobile friendly game engine (likely Unity, but open to other strong options) to quickly prototype new ideas.
- Iterate rapidly on mechanics, timing windows, UI flows, and juicy feedback (animations, particles, camera shakes, etc.).
Own the client's ide game architecture :
- Implement game state, progression systems, rewards, and meta game (XP, streaks, badges, etc.)
- Collaborate closely with our small team to plug into pitch/rhythm detection and real?time feedback.
Make it feel incredible on a phone :
- Optimize for smooth performance and low friction (short sessions, instant restarts, minimal loading).
- Build input and UI flows that feel natural on mobile devices.
- Collaborate on calibration and UX when audio, timing, and touch all meet.
You might be a fit if :
- Youve shipped at least one mobile or casual game (indie, studio, or serious side project).
- Youre comfortable in a modern game engine:
- Unity (C#) strongly preferred, but similar experience (e.g. Godot, Unreal with mobile focus) can work.
- You have strong instincts for :
- Game feel (juice, anticipation, satisfying feedback)
- Retention loops (progress, rewards, daily play, difficulty curves)
- Onboarding for non gamers and casual users
- Youre happy working in small, scrappy teams where you touch:
- Prototype UX
- Some light UI/UX design
- A bit of tooling when needed
- Youre excited by the idea of a - gen?AI powered game- :
- Dynamic content driven by user voice and AI models
- Systems that adapt to a players vocal ability and preferences
Nice to haves :
- Experience working closely with - audio / DSP engineers- or integrating audio driven mechanics (rhythm games, music visualizers, etc.).
- Comfort with - live ops / A/B testing- for casual or F2P games.
- Experience designing or implementing - meta games- (collections, cosmetics, soft economy).
- Previous experience at an early stage startup or as a founding/first engineer on a game team.
- You sing or play an instrument (any level is great!)
- You understand pitch, intervals, rhythm, tempo, and subdivisions, and can talk about why some feedback feels musical and some does not.
Did you find something suspicious?
