Experience Level : 6 to 8 Years

Evonence is looking for experienced integration engineer who views API management not merely as connecting pipes but as the strategic control plane for the modern enterprise. In this role, you will architect the digital nervous system that connects enterprise cores with cutting-edge AI agents and Large Language Models (LLMs).
While Google Cloud Apigee is our primary and priority platform for this role, we recognize that true engineering excellence transcends specific tools. We are looking for a candidate who understands the physics of distributed systems, the mathematics of traffic shaping, and the architectural patterns that make modern integrations secure, scalable, and intelligent.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architectural Design : Lead the design of global Apigee deployments, including multi-region failover strategies, VPC Peering architectures, and Hybrid vs. SaaS decision frameworks.
- AI Gateway Implementation : Build specialized API policies for GenAI, including :
Semantic Caching : Caching LLM responses based on vector similarity rather than exact string matches to reduce costs.
Prompt Guardrails : Implementing regex and logic-based policies to sanitize inputs/outputs (PII redaction) before they reach the model.
Token-Based Rate Limiting : Throttling traffic based on token count rather than request count to manage AI compute budgets.
- Legacy Modernization : Deconstruct monolithic ESB flows (e.g., Tibco, OSB) and re-platform them into lightweight, microservices-friendly API proxies without losing business logic fidelity.
- Developer Experience (DevX) : Treat the API Platform as a product. Automate the publication of OpenAPI specs and create self-service onboarding portals for internal developers.
Qualifications :
Academic & Professional Prerequisites :
- Education : Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering.
Foundational Knowledge (Required) :
Networking : HTTP/1.1 vs HTTP/2 vs HTTP/3 (QUIC).
Systems Design : Service Mesh patterns (Istio/Envoy) and Sidecar proxies.
Security : OWASP Top 10 for APIs (BOLA, Broken Auth, Injection).
Coding Proficiency :
- Strong command of Java or Python (for custom policy development).
- JavaScript/Node.js (for Apigee Edge/X programmable proxies).
