EPAM - Lead Software Engineer - Java

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable and high-performance software applications.

The role requires strong technical expertise, architectural thinking, and the ability to lead engineering teams while collaborating with product and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions.

- Own technical architecture and contribute to key design and engineering decisions.

- Translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Lead a team of software engineers and provide technical guidance, mentoring, and code-level support.

- Review technical designs, code, and implementation approaches to ensure quality and maintainability.

- Develop and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and application components.

- Drive adoption of clean coding practices, design patterns, engineering standards, and development best practices.

- Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges and implement appropriate solutions.

- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, business analysts, QA teams, and other stakeholders.

- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, technical discussions, and architecture reviews.

- Lead complex troubleshooting and production issue resolution.

- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software aligned with business requirements.

- Mentor engineers and support their technical and professional growth.

- Contribute to technology strategy, modernization initiatives, and continuous engineering improvements.

Required Skills :

- 10 - 12 years of experience in software development and engineering.

- Strong hands-on programming experience with Java and enterprise application development.

- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.

- Experience designing scalable and distributed systems.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.

- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.

- Strong understanding of software architecture, API design, security, scalability, and performance optimization.

- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.

- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with Angular or other modern frontend technologies.

- Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.

- Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native application development.

- Experience with system design and architecture documentation.

- Strong experience in mentoring and leading engineering teams.
