Job Summary :

Amazon is seeking an accomplished and passionate Engineering Manager with 812 years of progressive industry experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a technical management role.

Based in Bangalore, this leader will be responsible for managing the development of highly scalable eCommerce applications and platforms.

The role requires a strong technical background in building high-performance systems using Java/NodeJS, coupled with proven expertise in building, mentoring, and retaining top-tier engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Strategy and Architecture :

- Provide technology thought leadership to drive innovation and technical excellence across engineering teams.

- Lead the development of highly scalable eCommerce applications and platforms, ensuring system robustness and performance.

- Apply deep technical knowledge of scalable server systems from a prior strong development background to guide architectural decisions.

- Drive technical solutions for building highly scalable systems primarily utilizing Java (or NodeJS) and leveraging open-source tools and platforms.

- Guide teams on effectively leveraging both RDBMS and NoSQL systems for data persistence and scalability.

Team Leadership and Management :

- Build, mentor, and lead high-performance teams, focusing on hiring, coaching, and retaining top engineering talent.

- Manage and lead the development process using agile planning methodologies, ensuring the successful delivery of short release cycles (e.g., bi-weekly releases).

- Champion a culture that is passionate about building world-class software in a fast-paced environment.

Communication and Collaboration :

- Utilize excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills to align teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications :

- Experience : 10 years of progressive industry experience in software development, with a minimum of 2 years in a technical management role.

- Education : B.Tech in Computer Science or a related technical field.

- Technical Expertise : Strong, hands-on development background and proven experience in building highly scalable server systems using Java (or NodeJS).

- Database & Tools : Strong practical experience with both RDBMS and NoSQL systems, and leveraging open-source tools and platforms.

- Methodology : Must have mandatory experience with agile planning and successfully delivering short, frequent release cycles.

- Leadership : Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain top talent in high-performance engineering teams.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with the AWS cloud platform.

- Experience in building eCommerce or SaaS products.

- Prior experience working in software product companies and startups.

- Experience with DevOps tools and technology for continuous integration and deployment.
