We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead high-impact engineering teams building scalable, reliable backend systems. This role blends hands-on technical depth with strong people leadership, ownership of delivery, and close collaboration with product and business stakeholders.

You will be responsible for guiding engineers, driving technical excellence, and ensuring the successful execution of complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers through effective coaching, feedback, and performance management.

- Drive the design and delivery of scalable, high-availability backend systems and microservices.

- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

- Own system design discussions, architectural decisions, and long-term platform evolution.

- Ensure engineering best practices across code quality, testing, documentation, and reviews.

- Oversee delivery timelines, manage technical trade-offs, and remove execution bottlenecks.

- Champion reliability, security, and performance across production systems.

- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications :

- 8 - 15 years of overall software development experience, with 35+ years in engineering leadership roles.

- Strong hands-on experience with one or more backend stacks : Java, Go, Node.js, Python, or similar.

- Proven experience designing and scaling microservices, distributed systems, and high-traffic architectures.

- Deep understanding of system design, RESTful APIs, databases (SQL & NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).

- Solid grasp of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/observability tools.

- Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, align, and grow engineering teams.

- Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Good to Have :

- Experience building event-driven systems, working with Kafka or streaming architectures.

- Prior experience in fintech, consumer tech, or payments ecosystems.

- Startup or scale-up experience in fast-growing engineering organizations.

- Exposure to security, compliance, and data privacy frameworks.
