About the Role

This is a true "Player-Coach" position. You will be the technical anchor for the business, spending a significant portion of your time writing high-quality code and managing cloud infrastructure, while simultaneously mentoring the engineering team and driving daily agile execution.

You will work closely with the founders to translate business goals into scalable software solutions and will undergo a comprehensive, multi-month handover with our founding CTO to ensure you are fully set up for success.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Hands-on Development (60%) :

- Take full ownership of the existing codebase, driving day-to-day development, feature releases, and technical debt reduction.

- Write, review, and deploy clean, scalable, and maintainable code primarily using C# and .NET Core.

- Architect, manage, and optimize our cloud infrastructure entirely within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.

- Ensure high availability, robust security practices, and scalable database management using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure data services.

- Design and maintain robust RESTful APIs and microservices (if applicable) to support frontend applications and third-party integrations.

Team Management & Delivery (40%) :

- Lead, mentor, and scale a lean, high-performing engineering team.

- Run daily Agile ceremonies (sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives) to maintain delivery momentum and ensure alignment with business objectives.

- Manage deployment pipelines, CI/CD processes via Azure DevOps, and release schedules.

- Act as the primary technical bridge between the engineering team and the executive leadership, communicating timelines, risks, and technical strategy clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

- Manage external vendor relationships, software licenses, and cloud billing optimization.

Required Technical Stack & Experience :

- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 2+ years in a senior, lead, or architectural capacity.

- Microsoft Ecosystem Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise with C# and .NET Core / ASP.NET.

- Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience provisioning and managing infrastructure on Microsoft Azure (e.g., App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Azure AD).

- Database Management: Strong proficiency in relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design, query optimization, and Entity Framework.

- DevOps & Tooling: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

- Frontend Knowledge: Solid understanding of modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue) to effectively manage full-stack feature delivery.
