Position :Principal Engineer
Location : Remote
About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join a high-impact Engineering organization focused on building large-scale distributed systems and cloud platform services.
The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, platform scalability, and technical leadership.
This role requires strong ownership in designing and building highly resilient systems capable of handling billions of requests with sub-second latency in fault-tolerant environments.
You will work on complex large-scale engineering challenges involving cloud storage systems, metadata platforms, search systems, recommendation engines, synchronization platforms, intelligent caching systems, and multi-petabyte scale distributed architectures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures integrated with on-premises systems.
- Lead the development of large-scale distributed systems and backend platform services.
- Drive technical direction and engineering strategy for platform scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Identify and execute technical opportunities to improve efficiency across cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Architect and optimize systems handling: Billions of requests per day Multi-petabyte datasets Low-latency distributed workloads
- Own end-to-end delivery of critical engineering initiatives including : System Design Architecture Development QA Coordination
Deployment Monitoring & Reliability :
- Collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex scaling and distributed computing challenges.
- Communicate complex architectural decisions and technical trade-offs effectively across teams.
- Evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies to drive platform innovation.
- Build systems that proactively prevent reliability, scalability, and operational bottlenecks.
- Mentor engineers and provide strong technical leadership across engineering initiatives.
Areas of Engineering Exposure :
- Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly preferred : Distributed Systems Cloud File Systems Object Storage Systems Metadata Stores Search Platforms Recommendation Systems Synchronization Engines Intelligent Caching Systems Content Classification & Lifecycle Management User Behavior Analytics Platforms
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 to 15 years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend/platform engineering expertise.
- Proven history of technical innovation and scalable system design.
- Strong expertise in : Distributed Systems Cloud-Native Architectures Scalability Engineering High Availability
- Systems Performance Optimization : Experience designing systems that operate at large scale with low latency and fault tolerance.
- Strong understanding of : System Design Distributed Computing Reliability Engineering
Data-intensive Applications :
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and architectural problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with: Kubernetes Docker Microservices Architecture CI/CD Pipelines Observability & Monitoring Platforms
- Exposure to storage systems, caching platforms, or enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
- Experience working in product-based engineering organizations at scale.
