Role Summary
The Director of Information Technology is a mission-critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end architectural vision, engineering delivery, and operational management of large-scale pharmacy and clinical software platforms.
This position requires a high-caliber leader who can bridge the gap between complex healthcare regulations and cutting-edge product engineering. You will lead a multi-disciplinary organization of 100150+ engineers, driving the evolution of platforms that directly impact patient care, safety, and member experience.
As a strategic partner to executive leadership, you will ensure that the technology stackbuilt on modern microservices and cloud-native architecturesis scalable, compliant, and aligned with the rapidly shifting dynamics of the US healthcare industry.
Responsibilities :
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for a global engineering organization of 150+ professionals, overseeing the development of enterprise-grade pharmacy and clinical IT platforms.
- Architect and scale complex, full-stack software solutions utilizing Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
- Drive the migration and optimization of healthcare applications across hybrid-cloud environments, leveraging OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Azure.
- Translate intricate pharmacy and clinical business requirements into technical roadmaps that prioritize patient safety, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the engineering efforts to enhance the "Member Experience" by scaling high-availability platforms that handle millions of healthcare transactions.
- Own the full Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), implementing advanced Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies to ensure rapid, high-quality delivery.
- Ensure all platforms adhere to stringent healthcare security standards and data privacy mandates, including a deep focus on HIPAA compliance.
- Facilitate seamless interoperability between pharmacy systems and external healthcare providers by overseeing the implementation of HL7 and FHIR standards.
- Manage senior stakeholder relationships across business, clinical, and product teams to align IT investments with enterprise-wide healthcare objectives.
- Oversee the design and maintenance of mission-critical messaging systems to ensure real-time data flow across pharmacy operations.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, mentoring the leadership pipeline and promoting best practices in containerization and secure coding.
- Manage the 2 PM 11 PM shift to ensure high-velocity collaboration with global counterparts and timely response to mission-critical system needs.
Technical Requirements
- 18+ years of experience in IT, with at least 8-10 years in senior leadership roles managing large-scale engineering teams (100+).
- Domain Mastery (Mandatory) : Extensive experience in the Healthcare or Insurance domain, specifically within Pharmacy/Clinical systems.
- Full-Stack Technical Depth : Expert knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and the development of distributed Microservices architectures.
- Cloud & Containerization : Proven success deploying and managing enterprise applications on Azure, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.
- Interoperability & Data : Familiarity with healthcare-specific protocols such as HL7 and FHIR, as well as enterprise messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Compliance : Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations, PHI data handling, and healthcare security best practices.
- Infrastructure : Solid grasp of cloud-native infrastructure, automated CI/CD pipelines, and high-availability systems design.
Preferred Skills :
- Previous experience navigating the US healthcare market and pharmacy industry dynamics.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Healthcare Management.
- Strong product-oriented thinking with the ability to balance "speed to market" with long-term architectural stability.
- Exceptional executive communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical strategies to non-technical boards.
- Proven track record in organizational transformation, including scaling engineering teams from mid-size to large enterprise organizations.
- Ability to remain "hands-on" when necessary to guide technical architects through complex design bottlenecks.
