Database Administrator - MS SQL Server

Description :

We are seeking a highly skilled MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, optimize, and secure enterprise database environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, backup & recovery, high availability solutions, and production database support.

The role involves ensuring database reliability, security, scalability, and optimal performance while supporting business-critical applications and operations.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Administration & Maintenance :

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.

- Manage database environments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production.

- Perform regular database health checks and proactive monitoring.

- Ensure database availability, integrity, and security.

Performance Tuning & Optimization :

- Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, indexes, and stored procedures.

- Identify bottlenecks and implement performance tuning strategies.

- Optimize SQL queries and execution plans for improved efficiency.

- Manage database capacity planning and resource utilization.

Backup, Recovery & High Availability :

- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies.

- Perform database restores and disaster recovery testing.

- Configure and support SQL Server High Availability solutions such as :

1. Always On Availability Groups

2. Database Mirroring

3. Log Shipping

4. Replication

5. Clustering

Security & Compliance :

- Manage database security, access controls, and user permissions.

- Implement encryption, auditing, and compliance standards.

- Ensure adherence to organizational security policies and best practices.

Production Support & Troubleshooting :

- Provide L2/L3 production database support.

- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, deadlocks, blocking, and performance incidents.

- Participate in on-call support for critical production systems.

- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and support teams during incident resolution.

Automation & Monitoring :

- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, automation jobs, and maintenance plans.

- Monitor database alerts, jobs, and scheduled tasks.

- Use monitoring tools for proactive issue identification and reporting.

Required Technical Skills :

Core Database Skills :

- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2019/2022

- Expertise in SQL Server Database Administration

- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Triggers

- Experience in query optimization and performance tuning

- Expertise in indexing strategies and execution plan analysis

- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs and Maintenance Plans

Nice to Have Skills :

- Experience with Azure SQL / AWS RDS SQL Server

- PowerShell scripting for automation

- SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS knowledge

- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
